His career was pretty much a gift. He got a gift vs Vanzie twice and another vs Romanov. He had some decent domestic wins vs Murray and Benett but Murray was shot by the time they fought and Bennett never amounted to much outside of domestic talent. I wouldnt even say he was a solid European fighter.
His was the usual carefully quided Warren career. He done well enough out of boxing but boy his corner should have stopped that fight earlier. He just went out there and simply took a bad bad beating. I wouldnt be surprised if he has some permanent brain damage. Even Khan managed to flatten him in a round. Then again his competition went up as he got older.
That round was amazing. Katsidis makes fights exciting, win or lose, everytime. I can't wait to see his next fight!
Yeah - I can't think of any DECENT fighter that Khan has hurt, full stop. He has 15 (I think) stoppages, but a lot of those were either genuine bull**** Calzaghe-Manfredo types or sympathetic ones. But for the referee's intervention he would have put Earl to sleep within the next ten seconds.
Watch the whole fight. Earl's corner threw the towel in. In one of the best referee decisions iv seen from Mickey Vann (who isnt my favourite ref because of the whole WBU Ricky Hatton saga..) he threw the towel out in the 2nd round! Moments later Earl hit him with a massive overhand right that shook Katsidis to the soles of his boots. He touched down and was given the count. Great great fight. But Earl was never the same again. Lord alone knows why he came to bang with a guy like Katsidis when Earl has never been a noted puncher.
