I don't think that's fair. Arum and DK are basically why boxing thrived in the 80s and 90s, and their loss of control explains the RJJ and Floyd Mayweather characters of boxing. Self-promoted, self-regulated primadonnas who choose their own opposition and charge the boxing public for mismatches. Sure once in a great while you'll get a guy like DLH who promotes himself and is constantly looking for the best challenge. But for every guy like that there will be 10 others looking for the easiest path in life. You let those guys run the show you are asking for it to suck. Plain and simple. The reason boxing sucks today is for two reasons. 1 - Shitty undercards and 2 - Mismatched main events. Real fights in boxing are few and far between anymore. And that is because the boxer himself has too much control.
Arum generalises far too much in that interview. I can't decide who's a bigger douche, him or Dana...:think
Thats actually very common for bi sexuals. They are disgusted by gays and obssessed with them at the same time. They dream of a threesome with a girl and another bi guy. Tipical cases are Jack Prescott and Toopretty.
No its ****ing not. People of all races like the UFC and MMA in general. Plus last time i saw it was the WHITE eastern europeans ruling the heavies. Kessler ruling the 168 Hatton was the man at 140 Calzaghe was the man from 168- 175. Your post is shite, and when oh when have there been any skinheads in the UFC? On the other hand there is a mexican american fighter in Cain Velasquez with "brown Pride" tattooed on his chest, which in my view is racist, more than these invisible skinheads that are prevelant in the UFC.
King woudn't let Holms fight to unify.... Actaully boxing did well before King. The one and only Champ fought a solid top four challanger....when a Cahmp fought the number 6 guy he was teaking a tune up. Today a belt champ fights the number 6-8 challanger, in tht the 4 champs are 1-4 and so you got 5-8 as number one, and 9-13 as number two...so no wonder you got crap fights.
Everyone remember the Bob Arum interview where is states that MMA is for skinheads and that its garbage? Well hes right to some extent. Ive never seen this in boxing. http://www.boxingcore.com/2009/09/01/mma-fighter-toni-valtonen-has-swastika-and-born-to-hate-tattoo/
Well, Jack Johnson and Larry Holmes put all that bull**** into perspective, so it won't be too long before some brother does the same to these pasty douche bags. That being said, while the early fights of MMA resembled wino fights, the sport is evolving and tacticts unique to this style of fighting are developing. As time goes by, MMA will be more interesting.
I'm an MMA fan embarrassed by the fanbase. How many boxing fans don't know that they're watching boxing? Well, MMA's fanbase is so stupid, they are such zuffa zombies, that they'll watch mma and say "we're watching wwe, or, ufc I mean." These people are the same people who believe in death panels. It's truly an embarrassment how many right-wing lunatics prop this zuffa ufwwe garbage up. The sport is great. But zuffa's ppvs and shows are just tough-man contests designed to attract red neck imbeciles. That said, Arum's opinion is up for sale. He should be ignored.
Bob Arum is absolutely right....mma is marketing bar fighting, if I want to watch that I will go to the local watering hole....
Loved that interview and loved the way that ****** was trying to defend UFC as Arum bashed the **** out of them. One thing everyone is ignoring and I don't understand why is how Arum indirectly hinted he WON'T work hard enough to make a fight with Mayweather for Pacman. Anyone missed that or do people here only noticed such stuff if Elloerbe or Mayweather said it?
