I am now seeing more and more threads of people taking Cotto to KO Pacquiao late, but if I recall when the fight was first signed, everyone was calling on Pacquiao to beat Cotto, especially after Cotto's last fight against Clottey. This seems to be the tune as of late here on ESB... so why the change of heart?

I said it from the beginning, Cotto is a very good boxer, in the top three without a doubt at 147lbs, and although Pacquiao is a threat, he isn't big enough to beat the elite at 147lbs.

Yeah I've noticed the same too. Perhaps it's due to the recent discrepancies between Roach and Pacquiao's handlers, and the possible affect this could have on his training camp.

I personally said from the very begining that Cotto is gonna win. I maintain this stance.

Malignaggi's comments at the ny presser were very good about why cotto will beat manny......

he said that when he fought cotto, cotto was an animal at 140, and is one of the strongest if not the strongest at WW......he went on to say that manny has enough skill to trouble cotto, but cotto wil succeed where hatton failed in imposing his strength....

I've been 50/50, but leaning towards Cotto now, the more I evaluate the fight.

Pac should have been the underdog in the first place. Wait for Cotto's hater's to remind you why Pac became a favorite in the first place..

i think (and want) cotto to win i think it all depends on how cotto reacts to the amount of punches pac throws from what i see with pacquiao he throws a combination then steps back i noticed morales figure that out cover up then as soon as pac stepped back with his arms down he pounced but i have a feeling whoever the agressor is will win it because cotto isnt as big as i thought he was and the weights that little bit harder for him but not too hard

I was surprised that so many people weren't giving Cotto a chance. It's 60/40 for me. Pac wins.

I like both fighters a lot but it shouldn't be a surprise that I would rather have Cotto win. However, I still give Pacquiao the edge in the fight so far. Maybe certain comments (Steward and Paulie) combined with the circumstances are changing peoples mind a bit.

I never thought Hatton was that good to begin with...and then to compare him to Margo and Clottey. Do we really beleive Pac would have looked great against them?

It's true that most people have had to re-think their opinions on this fight, as they begin to analyse it deeper.

I think most have cottoned onto a key fact here - Cotto's PATIENCE and ability to fight like a boring ******* when the occasion demands it.

This will be such an occasion, as I have no doubt he will retreat early on and look to counter Pacquiao. He showed in the Clottey fight he can do this fairly effectively and he has the reportoire to make Pacquiao pay for any over-exuberance.

As Pacquiao feels his power and strength, then Cotto will start to move forward more and impose his strength on Pacquiao. That's what he will be hoping for anyway.

I still think when the fight opens up, Pacquiao will just be took quick and accurate for the slightly plodding Cotto, and I stand by my pick for a Pacquiao win.

However, the difference now is, I can see HOW Cotto can win, whereas before I didn't.

It's a very real fight and Cotto is a very good welter. Everyone has seen Miguels commitment to this fight and he has been in training very early on.

I had my doubts as of recently. I think pac will win from the beginning. But, Cotto is no joke. He beat Shane, which is not very easy to do. Shane is pretty quick. Pac is just as quick, or even more, but, Cotto neutralized Mosely's speed with his own fast combinations. Plus, Clottey is a beast, and Cotto beat him with one fuggin' eye, a thing very HARD to do for MOST fighters. Roach has even said that this fight is an even fight. Roach knows Cotto is a serious threat to anyone any given night. So, I, too, feel like I am swerving the other way, but, I think Pac's speed will be the difference in this fight. Felt it from the beginning, still do.:p

I'm leaning toward Cotto, and have been for quite awhile. One of the things I picked up on is that the two fighters seem to have very different attitudes toward the fight, and very different motivations.

It seems like Pac is looking at this as an easy interim fight on his way to a mega-money showdown with PBF. I think he is on such a high that he is actually badly under estimating Cotto.

Cotto, on the other hand, seem to be in a full on hard ass frame of mind. In my opinion, he seems to have the utter dectruction of Manny Pacquio forefront in his mind. In my opinion, that could prove to make one hell of a difference in how the fight plays out.

And by the way, I'll take avatar bets right now on one fact. If Cotto wins, PBF wil make up some sorry ass excuses about how Cotto isn't a big enough star, and fight Pac anyway!
