@ people saying that Toney is 'in shape' now because he came in at 217lbs. Just because he's slightly less fat doesn't make him in shape. An in shape Toney would be an undersized cruiserweight at most.
Either Klitschko sister would beat Toney to a bloody pulp and get the stoppage inside of 8 rounds. Maybe if the Klitschko mom or dad were to fight him, then I guess we would have a competitive fight. I don't know, what are the stats on Vitali and Wlad's dad?
give it a rest. Bull**** statement. Some of the guys you mentioned were Mands and others were top 10 UNDEFEATED fighters.
maybe 5 years ago Toney wasnt ready, but now he is back on the track. Thats a bit opposite to Haye who was claiming he is ready from the beginning and now it seems he will just end with the hand in the potty.
Vitali can't deal with pressure. Add to that some hard punchers of a 210 pound James Toney and suddenly things may look different.
I love to see him fight Vitali cause I think he could give a good account of himself in a losing effort and do far better then a Kevin Johnson would do.
25.05.2004 Vitali Klitschko: I wouldn't want to fight him [Toney] since it's a no-win-situation for me. He is very uncomfortable to fight. If I beat him, everbody will say: "Oh, he beat a middleweight!" And if somethings happens and I don't win, they'll say: "A middleweight beat a heavyweight!" Source in russian (big interview after the Lewis fight): http://www.sport-express.ru/newspaper/2004-05-25/13_1/ That scared chicken doesn't even want to think of a fighter of Toney's class. Danny Williams was not a no-win-situation for him, but James Toney (Fighter of the Year 1991 and 2003, 3 times World Champion) is.
Until Toney is stopped by one of these heavies I don't see him retiring. He is still a contender IMO. It is kind of weird Raahman getting the nod to fight Wlad over Toney when Toney was whipping Raahman's hiney before the fight was ruled a NC.
