The final round Cotto won fair and square, but that isnt representative of the entire fight. Clottey landed the cleaner shots, most of cottos were partially blocked.
in my book he beat both Mosley and Clottey and was schooling Margarito in the first half of the fight. And lets not forget the possibility of hardened gloves.
He obviously lost to Marg, and while I thought he edged Mosley, he definitely lost to Clottey. Now before Cotto nuthuggers run in here and tell me that he was fighting Clottey with one eye, I don't care, he doesn't get preferential treatment on the scorecards because of a cut eye. He clearly lost that fight 7-5.
Paul Williams schooled Margarito in the first half of their fight as well. Mosley schooled Margarito in their entire fight. In fact, 6 fighters have schooled Margarito. It's really not that hard to school Margarito. If Floyd had fought Marg that day, he would have won a decision anywhere between 10-2 and 12-0. That's the difference between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto. Class.
styles, timing, age, skill etc... determines fights. :-( Not saying Cotto is better then PBF, just sayin.
Brains determine fights too. If Cotto had used his brain in that fight and continued to move and box. Floyd-Cotto would be a bigger fight than even Floyd-Pac right now.
Cotto beat mosley.. it was a close fight and if mosley didn't ran around the last around then the fight could have been a draw. I had cotto up by 1 pt before the 12th round. The last round was very important especially in a close fight. Cotto won that fight.
LOL yea, because its the puertorican system keeping down african fighters :yep Cuz you know puerto ricans run nyc politics and money matters :rofl stop calling the race card, its ****ing pathetic. Whats next, "what would you expect, its a light skinned african fighting a dark skinned one!!" lol clottey always loses his big fights because 1. He fights in spurts, when he does fight hes looks great, but he fights in spurts.... A round is 3 minutes not 5 15 second bursts... 2 He has that defense and style that just dosent please fans or look good with the judges. It looks alot better if you slip/step away from punches instead of taking them on your guard. 3 He has little charimsa and fans, hence he is not marketable... So in a close decision, the marketable fighter usually wins 4 I think his whining and complaining pissed people off. Plus, cotto was the champion, so he gets the nod when it comes to close rounds. Hence the saying, you have to take the belt away from the champion Clottey Cotto was a close fight, but with cotto being the entertaining, marketable, champion... Its pretty obvious who the close rounds go too... go cry racism if you want lol
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, not so clear it seems. Last time I checked in boxrec, Cotto still had a big mothafu*** W next to that fight. That's ur opinion and nothing more. That's not gonna change the fact that Cotto won that fight, and clearly did so, IMO ! Or lack of it, you might wanna say! In boxing, class is defined not only by how you fight but by the caliber of competition who you fight against. Cotto has more than proved he's willing to fight anybody they put against him. Floyd?????? Not so!!:yep
