BBBofC to Investigate McDermott-Fury Ruling On Sept. 23

Order a rematch and punish the ref.

 

Refereeing and judging at the same time is a hard and I would say dangerous job. I would much rather see the ref screw the Judging side up than the refereeing.

There can always be a rematch.

 

Decision needs to be turned since McDermott won or at the least a no contest!

 

They need to hold the ref accountable and get a report on how he scored each round. He needs to be put on a lie detector to find out if losing to McD's dad influenced him.

They also need to scrap ref's and appoint three judges.

 

I don't think they'll call it an NC, I think they'll order a rematch though.

As for O'Connell, probably a slap on the wrist.

A rematch needs to be made. I think Hennesey and Fury will do everything possible to avoid another fight with McDermott but hopefully John gets justice.

 

There have been a fair few worse decisions in recent years, however with this being a fairly high profile fight with a hyped prospect getting a bit of a favour, the matter has been brought to a head.

For the record I had it even.....

Something needs to be done clearly about the standard of officiating at boxing matches in the UK. This shouldn't just be extended to three ringside judges for all fights, it should include.....

1. Publication of all scorecards on the BBBoC website.

2. Clear guidelines on the recruitment of new officials.

Basically, the entire board policy on various issues needs to be overhauled. As Maloney correctly stated as part of his rant, there needs to be more of an open book policy rather than a gentlemen's club whisky and cigars attitude.

Establish a press office, official rankings for titles, actively encourage ex-fighters to get invloved in officiating, either refereeing, judging or as corner inspectors.

Just do something, because the set up makes the amateur era of rugby union seem top class!

I think a lie detector is a little extreme, this isn't Guantanamo Bay or Jeremy Kyle. Besides he might not even be aware he was influenced by the loss to McDermotts Dad.

 

Should waterboard him and then make him take a DNA test imo.
