He was woken up from a sleepwalk and it pushed him towards a hard rally to get rid of the cat.. he is not as strong as he was 4 or 5 years ago, there is a marked difference.. weight is one thing , strength is another......

lol....Toney looked good brah. You don't know what you are talking about. Toney was moving well, working the body, using angles, slipping 80% of the punches thrown at him and you think he got "rocked":rofl For real?.....I'm mean, for real, for real?:rofl

He was rocked to the ropes, he didn't go to the ropes out of choice or decision, the punch hurt him good enough to drive him there. He dodged a punch or two and ate another one as he continued to dodge, clearly Geerer ran out of gas throwing 3 more punches after hurting him.

He looked fat at Cruiser weight! This isn't a beauty pagent. I can't beleive we are stuck on a fighters apperance who is not a natural HW and doesn't have the genetic make up of a Klitko brother. Even at 160 James was soft in apperance. People need to get new hobbies if their focus is on how a fighter looks without talking about his performance.

If "boxing fans" want to talk about how good a boxer looks in their trunks and how nice their chest is then maybe boxing isn't really the sport one should be watching. By the way I'm not directing these comments to you Heavy....I do agree TOney still looks fat. I'm just surprised how many posters are still talking about how he looks like they are trying tighten the man up as a potential mate.

I don't know about that. He "looked" rocked but he's played possum before after a flush shot to lure his oppoent in to counter which is exactly what happened. I've only seen JT rocked by Same which was very clear....even in the first fight with Peter, Toney was hit Flush and acted hurt but wasn't. He plays possum and lays on the rope to counter and catch his wind.

Yeah I get your point and apologize for misunderstanding. However, I believe it wasn't balance that rocked him backwards he was stunned/rocked from a punch he didn't see coming and YES it did hurt him clearly but he came back from it and shook it off quick. The first round against Peter in the rematch WASN'T off balance either, the knockdown was yes, but the right hand that rocked him to the ropes wasn't. He was clearly rocked/hurt/stunned/whatever from it.

I'm not degrading Toney in any way, **** no, the man is taking bombs from heavyweights like he has been a heavyweight all his career. I'm just being realistic, even though I hate his guts I wouldn't want to see him take a severe beating as he steps up which is bound to happen and I'm sure you know it deep inside.

In boxing when you play possum you are baiting your opponent into throwing a specific punch which you already have memorized whilst preparing a strong counter immediately after it, that's what playing possum is usually used for. You study your opponent in there and see what punch he seems to throw a lot and what you do that would force him to throw that punch, once you do, BAM the counter comes out. It's more like bait.

Toney didn't plan to throw nothing there and what backed them off wasn't a counter from Toney, it was Geerer running out of gas.

Sometimes....you can't always predict what your opponent is gonna throw....For greerer, James had a novice compared to his skill level and james was able to counter him immediately after going to the ropes. James is a natrual fighter, like Floyd. His instincts are top notch and he can feel what his opponent is going to do. Almost like a 6th sense. Which is why I enjoy watch guys like JT and Floyd. THey do some pretty incredible things in the ring.

But James took a lot out of Geerer with the constant body work in round 1 and 2. He was spent before the punches he threw. He just thought he hurt James and went in for the kill but was met by a James Toney Uppercut.

The fighters you can't predict what they will do are the multi dimensional elite ones, being unpredictable is a sign of an elite world class fighter. A guy like Geerer isn't too hard to figure out at all for someone in Toney's experience.

Look I hate to go far, Geerer is a tomato can and when a tomato can rocks him that way being as out of shape, slow and terrible as Geerer was then there's an obvious issue.
