Both Cotto and Pacquiao have never ...

    Outclass an opponent, they both have overwhelmed their opponents with either speed or power. With that being said, the up coming fight between two should be interesting. Both bring physical aspects to the table ... Cotto with power and Pacquiao with speed. I have made it known how I feel about the fight but the close the fight looms, the more I'd have to lean towards Cotto.

    The fact is that Pacquiao has speed but he doesn't have the smarts to outclass Cotto in the ring. He may be able to overwhelm Cotto but it takes more than that to beat a guy like him, especially considering the noticeable size difference between the two. I'm not underestimating Pacquiao's punching power, but he has to bring alot more to the table than Cotto does.

    I see this being a war of wills with Cotto pulling out the victory. When this fight was first announced, I thought for sure that this was going to be an easy victory for Pacquiao, but looking deeper into my archives (studying both fighters) I seen that the overall advantage goes to Cotto. Although Pacquiao possesses the advantage on speed, Cotto isn't slow himself and he doesn't bring a more precise attack when it comes to pressure. Pacquiao will have his moments but ultimately Cotto with his power punching and attention to the body will wear Pacquiao down in the mid to late rounds and put Cotto in the position to win.

    How is that? what is your definition of outclassing and how has Cotto or Pacquiao displayed it?

    I can tell you this, and this is a fact ... a majority of their victories have been from overwhelming opponents and not outclassing them. More knockouts ... more stoppages ... too many close controversal decision victories.

    seriously, how would you distinguish the two?

    overwhelming and outclassing are almost similar verb.

    Seems that "outclassing" to you is what PBF did to Baldomir.

    If that is the case, thank goodness Pac and Cotto are not looking at outclassing each other.

    They both overwhelmed those fighters ... Cotto out muscled Quintana ... and Hatton was over powered by Pacquiao ... in fact that fight with Pacquiao vs Hatton wasn't even long enough to show a difference in class.

    Cotto basically pulled Quintana's "hoe card"

    Pacquiao just laid Hatton "the **** out"

    both pac & cotto have never said bad words to their opponent.....& never pot shotting their opponent...

    * Cotto did not win the torres fight because he overwelmed torres with speed and power, he won it through discipline, heart, will, accuracy, variety of punches and stamina, until he chipped torres away enough to PUT him away... but torres was just as powerful as cotto.



    but anyways,

    and why Cotto vs

    Bazan
    Bailey
    Judah
    Torres

    ect, ect, ect

    Are not 'outclasses' in terms of a fight.

    In fact, 3 out of 4 of those fighters have as much behind their punches as cotto does, with judah having more power AND more speed, yet still cotto dominated.


    So, when you use the tools you have to show yourself above and beyond your opponents class, not just because your faster, or just because your more powerful, yet because you use a variety of abilities in your arsenal (Timing, mastering distance, throwing differant types of punches, versatility, durability, recovery, workrate, tenacity, ect) that is the definition, imo, of 'outclassing' your opponent.

    I dont really get that logic...If you show your are of a higher class then your opponent, then thats outclassing them.


    From those above examples..If anything you mean youve never seen Pac or Cotto "outbox" their opponents, which in any case isnt true.

    Cotto vs Gomez is the definition of outclassing your opponent in every aspect available to judge.

    and if you say well hes supposed to do that to gomez

    Cotto vs Mosley. Mosley has more speed, just as much pop, and yet why did he lose? it sure as hell wasnt because of cottos power. So when you say cotto wins because of his power, your as wrong as wrong can be... like i said, cotto wins because of a vast, vast array of abilities. period.
