    He could have been bigger earlier had he not turned down a fight with Naseem Hamed in the late 90s.

    Great fighter. It's a shame he is fighting Void at Void's weight, Void's venue, Void's referee, Void's Commentators to tell you who is winning, Void's ring, everything in Void's favor. Marquez is too small for Void. I will not waste my money on a prefabricated fight.

    Turned down an immediate rematch with Pac, made impossible demands to fight Morales and ignore the challenges by Joan Guzman.

    I have to admit thought that he has stepped up his opposition level since the Pacquiao rematch.

    wow your a negative ass this was a thread to appreciate marquez as a fighter and his skills and all you do is complain..are you a ******* my friend? cause if you bring down marquez then your bringing down pac a bit :good.

    Marquez was great back in the day as well, but his more counter-punching style hurt him in terms of popularity with the Mexican fans, as well as putting out a stinker major fight against Norwood(which Marquez won in my eyes, but was a terrible fight). He also was shamelessly ducked by Hamed for being too risky for low money, and Nacho didn't do him any favors in terms of management.

    Fortunately all this has culminated in him changing his style to a more aggressive boxer-puncher type with still great counter-punching capability on the fly to become one of the more exciting fighters today.

    yeah sucks hes old past prime..and has all the disadvantages against mayweather..he deserves more money than the 3 mill hes getting against ''owes money'' mayweather..i wish marquez could win a title at 140 and retire as mexicos first 4 division champ.
