I would argue he COULD be. If the man had a crowd-pleasing style to elicit the kind of fights his hype machine generates, I would contend he could fill the void (yes, I said void) left by DLH.

HOWEVER, I tend to think he has the adverse effect. While he's a mastermind at drilling up publicity and scintillating headlines, his boxing matches never live up to their lofty expecations, and the casual fans who are drawn to this sport by 24X7s, the press releases etc, get that little validation they needed to say "You know what? Boxing DOES suck -- it's a completely boring and unsatisfying experience," and they walk away again -- either temporarily or even permanently, but they most certainly don't get inspired to check out other avenues and icons of the sport, which is what a successful promotion would be capable of.

What are your thoughts? Do the benefits outweigh the cons as far as PBF is concerned?

yeah if we are talking about the sweet science.you dont like pbf then you dont like the fighters b4 him with his style.id say go watch ufc if you want to see haymakers from start to finnish.

mayweather is a pure boxer, so if aint good neither are the other pure boxers before.now thats a damn shame if someone feels that way.

most new comers to boxing dont understand the **** anyway.they dont know there are looking at poetry in motion.

Floyd is def good for boxing! If you don't already know, look at the buzz he has created since his announcement of coming back. He is the most physically gifted active fighter. Questions on his legacy still remain, thats why we will be watching.

No question about it -- the guy generates press like no other boxer can right now, I just question whether it's the positive kind. I know there's the mentality any press is good press, but I just hope doesn't go out there and bore the casual fan to death. I love the sweet science as much as the next guy, but wouldn't it be nice for a really high profile fight to deliver the goods for once in the same way, say JMM/Diaz did?

I give Floyd credit for a good row with Hatton, though.

Floyd is awful for boxing. The quicker he stays retired the sooner the sport can recover.
