I'll say it just the one more time, I'm not doubting it. :huh What the **** is wrong with you people? I said if Ricardo Lopez really is one of Floyd's favorite fighters, and I have no reason to question it, then I'm sure he does admire his opponent on Saturday night. There styles are very comparable.

Just a shame he didn't move up and fight Michael Carbahal and Humberto Gonzalez, perhaps then we could be mentioning him above the likes of Marco Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. For all of the technical ability Finito no doubt had and demonstrated every time out, he didn't really have any names on his record to prove the extent of his greatness. Such a shame.

Im amazed and disappointed he didnt mention Ray Leonard!
Thats ridiculous.A fighter of Floyds calibre and knowledge shouldnt overlook a Boxing maestro & genius like that.
    Very odd.

I'm in complete agreement with you. That said, Floyd Mayweather Jr did go on record to actually say, "Ray Leonard would be a contender in my Welterweight division". I know it sounds nuts, but maybe he was just trying to be funny. Any Boxing fan worth his salt knows that Leonard would have cleared up the Trinidad/De La Hoya era as well as the current era, which is really nothing to bark on about. We have Lightweights moving up to 147lbs with success. Not Lightweights of the same class as Duran, that is.

What a great fight that would have been. Carbajal could box to, but he just found it all to easy to slug it out with his opposition. He had true knockout power in both his right and left hand, and with Ricardo Lopez moving up from Minimumweight, his power might be a little to much. The tragedy in all of this is that we never found out. Those were fights that should have happened, no question about it. Lopez was so dominant, he should have moved up. I don't know why he didn't.

    :good
I'd also add that Hearns,Benitez and a motivated WW Duran(Palomino,Leonard1)would have dominated those eras too.

Thomas Hearns would probably tear away at the recent 147lbs divisions even quicker than Ray Leonard could. Different class.
