It's fair to say the 2009 version of RJJ at 40 is along way from the peak RJJ who went 49and 1. However, 'shot' is perhaps the wrong word to explain where he's at.

Thing is though, even a 'shot' Roy is still superior to the peak version of many other fighters.

Danny Green is certainly past his peak too, and in comeback mode.

The big question is whether the current version of RJJ is better than the current version of Danny Green. Hope I'm wrong, but I think it is.

Well I may come across as sceptical but I see Roy carrying Danny for 12 rds ( secret gentlemans agreement $$$) then Danny saying after no disgrace going the distance & losing to an ATG & then proceed to call out mandy, who will willingly step up for the rematch in the near future.

Those conclusions arent based on the evidence though.

Fact is Roy has looked anywhere from atrocious to average since the first Tarver fight over 5 years ago.

He puts on one half decent performance against Lacy and people totally forget events of the last 5 years.
That fight has to be put into context, the stylistic and skill advantages not withstanding..Jeff has looked a shell in his last 5 fights aswell.

Your are putting words in my mouth now by saying I said he was crap..Id like to know where I said that at all..But the fact of the matter is Roy is toast and has dipped a loooong way from where he was.

He probably should still beat Green...but given Danny is at home, doesnt fight like Lacy and doesnt seem to have faded all that much from a couple of years ago..He is a decent chance of taking this.

Its all there for everyone to see...Im not sure why people choose to overlook it.

There was talk about the card being Oz v USA WHICH WOULD BE GREAT:happy
However RJJ got pretty greedy at the end of negotiations which means there might not be enough cash to have a huge undercard but im sure they'll put together a couple of good scraps

Good fight. Sheika and Lacy are not bad fighters. The question is who has Green ever beat? and what has he done recently? Even in recent times, Jones has put up better performances.

Green should give it a good crack though.

Some unkind posters might be tempted to suggest a transgender title bout is on the cards, but not me.
