Floyd is one of my favorite fighters, but something tells me that he is fighting to get his butt out of trouble with the IRS, and banks and so on. Now, not ever doubting his ring ablities and talents, it just seems to be that Floyd and Marquez are fighting for 2 different reasons, Floyd to clear his debts and JMM for pride and honor. My point is when people start fighting for money (solely) it usually ends up not in their favor. What do you guys think?

He made a settlement with the IRS for $5 mill. If he really needed the money that bad, they would've just garnished his wages in this fight. That isn't happening. In the end, I really can't tell you. Only Floyd knows the true answer to that. Time may tell on this one.

I think its a combination of both. i do think that he really loves the sport and thats why he has always been in tip top shape. You can tell when a guy is just fighting for a check when he shows up out of shape, offers little resistance, and gets disposed of quick.

At the same time, I think he also loves hte money and he woudlnt fight for free, or for peanuts. I mean i think alot of athletes in all sports love what they do but at the same time they want to get paid.

i always felt his comback was due to financial problems......never struck me as being careful with his $............hope he doesn't blow it all by the times he's 45......seems very likely though.

The name he gave himself is "MONEY" mayweather. he's fighting for the money. I'm sure Floyd is still Rich, with or without the IRS situation. But he cares more about the money than the sport in my opinion. But he's a tremendous boxer and great for the sport. He brings a different dynamic to the sport which is needed. His attitude and ego make people love him or just love to hate him. Either way he makes people want to see him....fail or succeed.

Love of the sport, Floyd has made a shitload of money in the sport in the oscar fight he made 25 Million and in the Hatton fight 15 million not to mention all the 3-5 million paydays throughout his career, I think Floyd got bored after he beat Hatton.Cotto wouldnt fight him because of Arum, Who was out there for him to fight? Mosley was inactive till september when he Beat Mayorga and he was coming of a loss to Cotto and didnt look good against Cotto or Mayorga and Margarito was never a world class opponent and has been exposed as a cheat so when Pacquiao came up the weight classes and looked devastating plus his fanbase and you are talking a mega fight the sort of fight to get up Floyds competitve juices.
