I don't agree with you scoring but I do agree emphatically with your call to give Norton his due. Norton was a fine heavyweight. He not only gave Ali hell, but he won a split decision against Young when Young was hot and gave Holmes fits.

    Norton won the 1st
    Ali won the 2nd
Ive only seen highlights of the 3rd but most side with Norton from what Ive heard & read, I`ll need to watch this fight in full one time.

Ali only won the second fight, but not the first and the third.

Norton won at least two of the three, the 2nd fight was close. I think last time I watched fight two I had Ali winning, just.

I go along with that. They'd always be tough fights for Muhammad though. Particularly Norton.

As I've mentioned on previous threads, imo.Ali won the second fight by at least one round. Maybe two. Norton obviously won the first one. As for the third, well Ali was lucky to get the decision there. I'm an out and out Ali fan,but I have to be fair. Arguements can be made for a draw, and I still do n't know what possessed Norton's trainer, when he told Ken to be cautious in the final round. Eddie Futch had left Norton before the fight and there's no way that he'd have told Ken to hold back. Who was his trainer in this fight ? I can't remember.

    Norton won the first fight.

    Ali won the second.

Norton didn't deserve to win the third.

So that makes 2 for Ali and 1 for Norton, I guess.

Norton beat Ali before Ali beat Frazier and Foreman. In fact Norton hurt Ali worse than Frazier.

Norton didn't deserve to win the thrid fight? Have you seen the 3rd fight. Its Norton all the way. Ali maybe won 5 rounds.

In the series its Norton 2, Ali 1. Norton also won by the biggest margins. The only fight that was close was the second one.

Bill Slayton was the Norton trainer for Ali 3. The reason he told Norton to be careful in that final round was he thought they were ahead in the fight. And also Ali was the rare breed that had some late round ko's to his credit and was a world class finisher in there. He knew how to finish an opponent once they got hurt. That looked like about the only option for Ali at that time & Slayton did not want to see 14 rounds of executing his gameplan to go down the drain. And it wasn't as if extra pressure by Kenny was going to stop Ali in the last stanza anyway.

In the second Norton won the entire second half of the fight with Ali maybe squeezing out the 12th ... it was really a draw. The third fight was flat out robbery, Norton won a minimun of 10 rounds. Terrible decision.

I have my doubts about that. Conteh's dinner makes it crystal clear that he's not an Ali fan,but he seems knowledgeable and fair in his assessment about things. I disagree with him about some of his views about Ali,but that's the beauty of debate.
