Should Marquez be stopped in the first round in the first PAC fight?

Everyone seems to be looking at this in hindsight.

If the ref stopped the fight after three knockdowns, it's very understandable. Many refs will do just that.
The ref let it go on, which is his call...in hindsight it turns out he made the right call by letting it go on. But had he stopped it, I don't think there would be too many complaints.

Well of course not. Look what Marquez did in the other 11 rounds.

I get a lot of **** for this opinion and I can only attribute it to the fact that Judah is hated while Tzyu is loved. Look at the facts, It was only the 2nd round of a fight. Judah had not taken a large amount of punishment he just got caught with some good shots at the end of a round. The very least that a guy deserves at that point is a count. We are talking about the same ref that let Fernando Vargas fight on in the Trinidad fight after being very bably hurt and dropped twice in the first round and look at the fight that we got from that. Look at the fight being discussed in this thread and what we would have missed had it been stopped in the first round.

In a fight of that magnitude when the guy has not taken a lot of punishment and it's early in the fight, the least that you owe him is a count.

No, he wasnt in the least bit hurt by the 2nd or 3rd knockdowns and actually got the better of the rest of the first rd after the last knockdown and then the rest of the fight.

Jay Nady would have stopped it, prolly after the 2nd KD.

Didn't you see Judah doing the chicken dance ???
There was something very wrong with him after that knockdown. Marquez to my eye never was really hurt in any of the 3 knockdowns, I think he was mentally fragile and succombed to Pacquiao's aggression. Fortunately he weathered the storm and got his composure back for the rest of the fight.

Do you really think that he would have died in the time it took Nady to count to 10? Give the man a count. he deserves at least that.

He seemed perfectly fine after all 3 knockdowns, so no.

The only way I see this getting stopped is Pac being disqualified for hitting Marquez on the canvas (see Jones-Griffin I).

JMM wasnt in a bad state, certainly not a `stop the fight immediately` kinda state.

Rules in Nevada state if A fighter gets up and fall again then the Fight should be stopped. Thats not Jays Fault. Zab shoulda kept his ass on 1 knee until the 8 count
