From the scene of boxing: "Clinton Woods is settling into his post-boxing life and he intends to take up some plastering jobs in order to keep himself busy. Sheffields Woods decided to hang up his gloves at the age of 37 after a defeat at the hands of Tavoris Cloud in their vacant IBF light-heavyweight title fight last month. Clinton has told the BBC that he is swapping his towelling robe for a trowel in order to take up his former trade. Financially I've done very well out of boxing, he confirmed, I've a lovely house and I rent out a couple of others. I've done OK. I'm not a millionaire and I'll probably go back to plastering two days a week. It's what I did before and I don't mind doing it again. I also want to spend more time with my kids. I've had offers to stay in the sport and train some kids and up and coming boxers but I don't know if I want to be stuck in a gym any more, I'm done with that. Woods won the IBF world title at light-heavyweight, tussling with the best in his division along the way." :good
Agreed. Clinton did good in a 14 year career and always kept his head high. We need more guy like him.Seems like a genuine nice guy. Btw tell Margarito Clinton has a job for him in plastering.
:thumbsup Clinton is a real down to earth guy... He easily got over his loss and get real... Unlike someone from Manchester who still haven't seen the video footage of his last loss and it's been 4 months already... .
Always seemed like a good bloke. Glad he actually knows when to call it quits. He's done well in the sport, and deserves to leave with all of his senses intact.
No. I'm not Clinton Woods, even though I use his name as my nome de guerre because I admire his courage and class.I'm just a 48 year old boxing and rugby union fan that is the treasurer of my rugby club and last season used to occasionally line up at second row on our "b" side.Boxing will miss the class of Clinton Woods who always gave all and never made excuses. I hope he enjoys his retirement and lives a long, happy life with his family.
:good:good Keep up the good classy name of Clinton... It's nice to see a true loyal fan of a classy humble boxer... I agree, Clinton always gave all and never complain and make excuses after a fight... .
I've always been a fan of Woods, the guy is classy and a good fighter as well. Unlike a certain "atg" he went to America to make the fight with Jones when Jones was in his prime and undefeated. Calzaghe thought it made no sense whatsoever considering his WBO title is beyond precious to unify or travel for big fights. When RJJ was beyond shot and has been for nearly 5 years it all of a sudden made sense for Calzaghe to travel with his lineal Light heavy title to make the fight.
great servant to the sport we all love, fantastic attitude and a good working class career, all the best to him.
