Why? I agree the lawsuit is dumb, but it was also dumb for Floyd Sr to start up some bull **** like claiming that PAC is on roids without any proof. Sr. can say what he wants but Roach and PAC can respond they way the like as well. It won't go anywhere anyways, but it's entertaining. How can you loose respect for a guy like PAC. he's overly nice, humble and on top of that he's a great fighter who give us fans incredible match ups and fights.

The question in these is always potential lost endorsement deals, which is relevant to Pac. He'd never lose anything in Philipines, but could potentially lose something in U.S. if 'roid alegations found any traction.

Lawsuits over name-calling is nonsense, but this is above that. I don't think there's a case at this point because Floyd Sr's relavence to the rest of the world is 0, but telling him to shut up or face legal action seems reasonable to me.

 

It's a bit different when someone like you or I come up with a lie that doesn't go anywhere, ya know. PAC is not only a role model, but a high profile sports figure and political figure. These kinds of allegations that are untrue can hurt his overall situation in more than one way. It's a completely different situation when these stories are spread not just within your town, state or country but on a global level. It can cast a shadow of doubt on his accomplishments, his character and hinder potential business or political success down the road.

I agree with what you are saying regarding taking advantage of the legal system to get paid, but I don't think this is the case here at all. I think it's more less a statement or a stand that Roach decided to take against the actions Sr took without warrant. My mother was sued or was in the process of being sued for some bull**** so I do understand and it pisses me off. (nothing came about by the way)

I don't think Can't deal with the "words", I think it's the intent of the "words" and the person whom is producing it that is the key problem. If it was a writer or some journalist I doubt they would have taken it this seriously. As a man it's his right to respond they way he feels is just. I think its a bit far but I'm not in or near the kind of position Manny is. As a man, he's proven inside and outside of the ropes that he deserves respect....but I can't say the same for Floyd Sr. As a trainer YES...he deserves all the respect in the world b/c he's a great trainer and is a true boxing genius....but I felt his actions in what he said was a ***** move.

For those who claim that simple allegations don't do anything and it's just words, look @ Mark McGwire. He never failed a test at all. All he got caught with was Andro, which was legal at the time.

He got accused by Canseco of taking steroids, he denied it but didn't sue, and look now. Everyone ASSUMES he did it without a positive test, without anything other than Canseco saying it, and people saying "look at how big he is".

As a result, most people believe he did it because he refuses to talk about it, and didn't sue Cansceco for saying it. So in a lot of people's eyes he's guilty. IF he wasn't, he would have sued, right? That's the thinking anyway.

Now he's a pariah. There are many who won't vote him into the Hall of Fame all because of the stigma of having the steroids attachment.

I think if you're a high profile guy, and you get accused of something like THAT, if you didn't do it you HAVE to to take some kind of action beyond just denying it. Public image is everything and if people start thinking you're not competing on the level, that can kill you image wise.

Another example: John Kerry.

During that election you had dudes coming out of the woodwork saying he was a traitor and whatnot, and the whole "Swiftboat" thing. He decided to ignore it and keep on working. Figuring "hey, it's ridiculous and the people will see that".

How'd that go over for him? I forget. Oh yeah. Four more years of Bush.

*note: not to get this sidetracked into political bull****. Just used that as an example. I am not making allegations as to whether or not it was true or false. Just gave an example of someone who refused to address the allegations and take action, and paid for it.*

 

Are you serious? First off, Canseco did more than just accuse McGuire. He wrote a ****in book and detailed how he injected McGuire. Not only that, but McGuire was asked if he did steroids in front of congress and instead of saying yes or no, he said he didn't want to talk about the past. McGuire clearly did steroids.

 

If Dapidran comes in looking smallish against cotto, and not stocky and cut as he usually is, he might have missed a couple of cycles which could tell if he was on roids or not. Now I want to say that I have no clue what I'm saying but that read good right lol...

Easy for you to say because youre nobody. For people who have the name to take care of, they need to do everything to protect that name. ITs a word they call it REPUTATION....

I dont think if you are earning more than $40Million a year, you still go sue somebody for $1000 if you win.

That's essesntially my point right here. Without failing a test, and going on the word of someone who was mad at Baseball for allegedly blackballing him from the league (in his mind anyway), people spazzed out on McGwire. They asked him about it and he didn't wanna address it.

I don't have insight into his thinking, but it seemed that he didn't want to address it because he felt it was ridiculous.

Personally I think he took something. That's just me though. And many others believe the same.

My point is this: He never failed a test. People are going on someone else's word (someone who's integrity is seriously shot and he admits he needs money thus he needs to sell books) and because he wouldn't address it and refused to even talk about it, people just automatically believe he did it.

As I said I think he did it, and I think most people probably do as well. But what do we base that on? His refuse to talk about it, and the fact that he didn't sue the **** out of Canseco when he said he not only gave it to him but that he injected him.
