Dempsey at number 9 is the one that leaps out at first (quick) look.

Jack Dempsey and Jack Johnson above Sam Langford and Ezzard Charles.

    Ghastly.

You could go all through the list and pick out many horrendous decisions, but those are the worst for me. Unforgivable.

Burt Sugar is and always has been biased in favour of old time fighters.

Sometimes I scratch my head wondering what Sugar is talking about. Its like hes watching another sport. The man knows nothing about boxing.

Yeah, you have to go all the way down to #25 to find the highest ranked fighter who was filmed entirely in colour.

And it's ****ing Sugar Ray Leonard, who is looked into a top 20.

I think Bert has Dempsey, McLarnin, Cerdan, Griffith, Napoles, Conn, Rosenbloom, Zarate, Beau Jack, Sonny Liston, Jersey Joe Walcott, Tony Zale, Rocky Granizino all to high.

And I think he had Muhammad Ali, Roberto Duran, Sam Langford, Ezzard Charles, Whitaker, Hagler, Monzon, Leonard, Ike Williams, Gavalin, Holmes, Sanchez, Holyfield, Tiger, Fitzsimmons, Roy Jones, Hopkins, Pryor all to low.

How the heck can Marcel Cerdan be rated higher than the likes of Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Ray Leonard, Whitaker, Monzon, Foreman, Holyfield and Holmes.........:huh

And why is Dempsey so high? That just stupid.

Tony Zale is also to high, and he didnt even put Fighting Harada or Miguel Canto in his list.

I just think that is a really crappy list.

I disagree on McLarnin. He's fine where he is. Maybe he could do with being higher...look at the bodies he stacked up. He can be lower, but not much lower.

Jimmy was a great fighter, but he shound't be higher than the likes of Charles, Leonard, Moore, Whiatker, Monzon, Foreman, Hagler, and Holmes.

There's absolutley no concievable reason to have McLarnin ranked below Foreman. His win resume at WW alone is better than Foreman's entire HW resume. Holmes above McLarnin p4p? Impossible. I disagree strongly on Hagler, too, though at least there is a case there.

Purely and entirely based upon who he beat in terms of quality, there are only a handful of men who should be above McLarnin. There are other factors to consider for sure, but in terms of who he beat, McLarnin is top 20.

McLarnin was a great fighter. But he was inconsistet and didnt have dominanat title reign. Lets not forget Ring Magazine didnt even have him in there top 50 fighters of the last 80 years.

The Ring's list was only marginally better. How exactly do you come to the conclusion that McLarnin was inconsistent? On a ratio of number of fights in comparison to quality of opposition he has probably the greatest resume of all time.
