He wanna fight Frank Mir at HW. I think Silva would win this since Mir would probably try to feel it to more on the feet and would get knocked out. I have a question for you. Anderson Silva is a way better striker than Cheick Kongo, but I would favour Kongo to knock him out. Size matters. Thoses blow Kongo landed on Cain would put Anderson Silva inconcious, in my humble opinion What do you think? Do you think Silva is that skilled and would beat one of the good strikers on the HW division like Kongo? I don't think Silva can bring Kongo down, but with Kongo's intelligence, you never know.
Silva lose to carwin, lesnar, gonzaga, velasquez, cro crop(if he looks good vs JDS), kongo and Dos Santos in my opinion. Size matters.
Wha makes you think big clumsy oafs are going to get close enough if fast skinny guys like Marquardt can hardly touch him? Kongo out strikes him from the clinch but silva wins from the out side. going with Kongo. Silva needs Kongo's size to compete as hw, and Kongo needs silva'a bjj to scramble back to his feet. one is applicable and the other is not.
I'm not so sure Silva take it easily from the outside. Kongo's reach is 82. With a guy with no talent for striking it dont matter, but Kongo is a competent striker in UFC. Silva's reach is 77. Kongo can knock him out.
Silva toys with him; unless he gets hit with one big shot he wins the standup; he obviously dominates the ground by miles. Silva, with time to prepare, could come in at a very reasonable weight for a heavyweight; his bone structure is huge. Almost nobody catches Silva with clean punches; he would dance around and score once in a while en route to a slow paced decision most likely.
I have to disagree with you, he toys with fighter who don't have particular skill in the standup with always a disavantage in the reach. Kongo's a competent striker, and have FIVE inch over Silva. Silva is gonna need to come into range, and Kongo has enough accuracy to land on him. Kongo would be too strong in the clinch. Kongo's striking ability is 1000000 times better than Griffin. + he has a good chin, good heart(beating he took vs Velasquez was hurtfull to watch). Im not even a fan of Kongo, I find him very stupid, but if he beat Mir, then why not this matchup since Silva wanted Mir? Kongo takes silva out.
He doesn't need to be out of range though; he's got the best ability to stay in the pocket without getting hit in MMA. Headmovement, timing, countering, he's got it all. Also look at the switch he used on Marquardt, he can take people down and Kongo is a flat out bad wrestler, on the ground that fights over in a few min.
He can be in the pocket against very average striker like Franklin or Griffin. I do think that Kongo has way better timing and accuracy than those guys. But yeah, if this fight hits the ground, Silva sub him. But I would be suprised to see Silva taking the fight to the ground. Silva has a big ego, and is proud to knock people out standing. He could have finished Griffin when he knocked him down the second time, but he letted him back up to his feet just to ridiculise him more lol.
Kongo is no more technical than Franklin, he just has more power, which is a bit useless when you aren't landing; Herring did better standing than Kongo. I just don't see him having the skill and technique needed. Silva did take Marquardt and Hendo down, plus fights just sometimes end up there without a takedown.
Herring did better standing than Kongo because Kongo respected too much Herring's wrestling. Kongo had the better standup vs Cro Crop(even a **** Cro Crop), and Hardonk whos a talented kb Kongo has more power, more speed than Franklin + way better reach. Kongo control the distance well. And wait a minute? Kongo is more technical than Franklin, at least with his punch. His technic is good actually. Franklin punch with his elbow out..
