    Sorry Doug,

For once I cant totally agree with you on this one. Yes its great to see two boxers share the ring tonight, but its under circumstances that I and other boxing fans like me dont think is right..
What happenedd last night was pushing it a little, even by Floyd's standards. I'm not writing Marquez off just yet, but all the aces were in Floyd's hand from the off and last night he just produced an extra ace from his sleeve.
To me it seems very unprofessional and a little bit of a joke that mayweather can agree a last minute change of contract due to the fact that he knows he wont make the 144lb limit...
He'll be going into the ring probably weighing 149-150lbs, compared to marquez who will not weigh anymore than 142. he has the reach, height and weight advantage from the start and now he has gotten an extra advantage in not having to work his bollox off to make weight.....

Cotto isn't being forced to do anything, as previously discussed. I'm not really sure what you mean by there being a chance of Marquez being seriously injured (apart from that being that chance boxers take whenever they get in the ring). If Mayweather was 144 at weigh in, that would be a big difference? Does Pacquiao have a similar chance of being seriously injured? Considering what you said about Cotto we can expect Cotto to weight more than Mayweather in the ring, no?

i hear you lucatoni08...but no-one has MADE marquez take this fight...he wants this shot at mayweather...he's one of the best in the world...who's to say it's 'not right'...

by that line of thought..it wasnt right for robinson to fight maxim, leonard v lalonde, duran v barkley, pacquaio v hatton

Doug.ie - This is at a catchweight and Maweather hasn't made the stipulated weight !

Cobbler your just gonna come back with that same smart arse question all the time - How was he forced ????

And to try and disregard the fact that there is no more/less a chance of him being injured than there is in a fight when the fighters are the same size and weight is ridiculous ! Mayweather is a better boxer, he's a stronger boxer, he's a better defensive boxer and is a quicker boxer. Now he also happens to be a boxer who could concievably come in on the night 8lbs heavier than his 'inferior' opponent ! But you dont 'understand what that means' do you ?

I'm looking forward to it but lets not try and disguise the fact that Floyd pulled a shitty stunt here ;good

At the end of the day, 2lbs won't be the difference in this fight. And if JMM didn't want to fight at welter, he shouldn't have agreed to fight Mayweather. Or, he should have signed a contract that stated clearly that the fight absolutely must take place at a catchweight of 144. Which seems not to be the case.

Same scenario with Pac-Cotto, I find it quite annoying that they agree to fight at welter, but ***** and moan about the issues which doing so raises. If they don't want to fight there, don't fight there.

El Cepillo. Its not 2lbs though is it ? By tonight it'll probably amount to around 8lbs which is the shame in the matter

I know nobody is forcing Marquez to take the fight, but lets be honest Marquez is not getting any younger. He has got his shot, it seems that some last minute contract changes were made (with agreement from marquez), but to be honest Marquez has no option but to accept the terms. Its a career high payday, he has a shot at greatness and will now presumaably get some extra penalty money from Floyd. He's been busting a gut for months and doesnt want to throw away the opportunity at the last minute.
I for one am not concerned about the extra 2 pounds(the two pounds in itself wont make a difference, shedding those two pounds would), its just the fact that its un-profesional and it seems like floyd can do whatever he likes to get that extra advantage, when he has got all the advantages as it stands...
I'll still watch the fight and still hope Marquez wins, but i'm more hopeful than expectant!

Yep, probably more I would think. But thats not the point, Marquez knew that would be the case, and he still agreed to fight at welterweight. I'm sure he knew exactly what he was getting into when he signed the contract. I actually think the weight issues have added an extra dimension to the fight.

Theyve took a dimension away in my eyes EL C

Lucatoni hit the nail on the head by saying it is exteremly unproffesional and its Floyd thinking he can do what he wants. Marquez will let him too because this is as high as it gets for him. He's getting on now and the money is probably what counts at this stage of his career. I doubt very much he's going to win so he needs to be getting what he can from this fight :good
