That's always been Floyd's MO hasn't it. When fighters are a genuine threat, it's either they're not a big draw, they're too green, or they need to brush up on their game.

I like the Ali example :

1- Major Trash talker... but very funny to all and he backed up his words in the ring fighting the very best available. RESULT = Instant respect

2-He lived a respectable life outside of boxing, not trying blatantly to live the gangsta lifestyle. RESULT = Instant Respect

    You are very, very wrong.

Ali was hated by MILLIONS. Sooooo many people wanted to see him knocked out. I know personally about 25-30 people who were at the Ali vs Liston fight, and about 75% of them were there in hopes of seeing him knocked out.

It wasn't until after his career that he earned the respect that he has today.

Of course, some people watch the Klits for the same reason and anyone that creates any buzz draws its amount of people wanting them to go down...it comes with the territory of being one of the best !

most 130 fighters after weigh-in go up to that amount....keep in-mind pacquiao outweighed him by 5 pounds....and pacquiao today has the natural body of 135 guy....

this is why people don't like mayweather even more after yesterday's antics....his fans claim he is this small WW, and some have said he can make 140 again, which i also believe.....but after the stunt he pulled yesterday....we have to say he is a TRUE WW....fighting a guy who's been a lightweight twice and had looked shaky at times before scoring KO's

seriously how can anyone defend mayweather's actions yesterday?

He's a great boxer, no question, but the reason i can't stand him is that his whole career it seems he's never actively tried to seek out the baddest fighters unless there was some kind of age or size advantage.

Because I don't like him, I'm glad he was too big of a ***** to go after Margerito. He would have beat him like Shane did, but he didn't have the balls or heart to go there and it was no surprise.

No that's not what it was at all. He was a clown inside the ring, disrespected other fighters. Aligned himself with RADICAL Islam. Dodged the draft, and was a very dirty fighter for the period of time.

Face it, he was the Floyd Mayweather of his time.

When he made his comeback and backed everything he was saying, he was getting some respect, not in the early stages of his career because in the 60's racism was a major issue in the States !

True, but he earned the respect he has today by taking dangerous fights with the best fighters of that era.

At the current rate, I seriously doubt Mayweather will get the same respect. Having to ask for attention after you retired and realized no one really cared, does not look too good on the legacy.

I have great respect for Mayweather's talents but have no respect for the person that he is. He comes off as image conscious and will lie or offer half truths to suffice the image that he wishes to portray. In one word, he's 'fake' an thus not someone that I would personally associate myself with or even glorify as a fan of his talents.

I dislike him because he didn't weigh in at 144 like he was contractually obliged to.

Like I've said before, I love his skills, not crazy about his "act". Can't even say I hate his personality, because I understand he's trying to sell himself as the villain. I just feel sorry for him because he makes himself look stupider than he really is.

But what I don't get is why you'd be surprised by the hatred he gets when he portrays himself as an arrogant, loudmouthed fool who's only in it for the money? Would you want your children to like/idolize someone with those qualities? It's like he's asking to be hated.

Just for comparison, Pac is the complete opposite of Floyd as far as what they portray themselves outside of the ring, and Pac just gets destroyed by hating ESB members here, so what's so surprising about how Floyd gets treated? Face it, ESB is full of hateful members. (I'm sure they will burn in hell anyway, so I don't sweat it, so you shouldn't either)

So my guess is, he gets hated by his style, his race (by racists, but are in denial) and (probably the biggest reason) his mouth. As far as the other fighters you mentioned: Margarito- probably lost most of his fans, but the ones who defend him probably have police records. Mosely, although accused, I don't think was ever really punished for his alleged use of steroids, so it was never really proven he was gulity.

BTW, that's a great avatar you got there. And that's coming from an alumni of The U.

The Klits get more race/nationality hate than Floyd by far. Most dislike Floyd for his attitude, it's no secret he's a dick.
