Mayweather totally shut down a great fighter in Marquez, a fighter whom his obvious rival in the press, Manny Pacquiao, couldn't defeat with anywhere near the same level of dominance. Mayweather would batter Pacquiao too, and considering this fight and how Malignaggi performed against Juan Diaz, along with their recent exploits I think Cotto is gonna smash Pacquiao.

I'm waiting for evidence of this. Beating up a beefed up 36 year old blown up lightweight is not enough for me regardless how good that guy was.

To earn the mantle he has to fight the people around him, and he has fought none of the elite group of Cotto, Mosley, Margarito and Pacquiao.

There was a size difference between Pacquiao and Marquez as well, it likely wasn't as big, but the gap in the performances is significant.

Pacquiao was 145 to Marquez' 141, and Floyd was estimated at about 152 to Marquez' definite 148.

It is being reported that PBF was 161. And to everyone watching he was AT LEAST 10 pounds bigger than JMM.

    Fact.

PBF is the best boxer of his generation but lets keep things into perspective..

Different fights at different times and different weights.
We can make all kinds of assumptions, such as Marquez looked slow, old and sloppy because of the division jumps, fighting a bigger, very talented man. Just like we could say Pacquiao was fighting the left overs of Mayweather when he embarrassed Hoya & Hatton.

We can't really compare fights, there's too many intangibles...

Yea, really. These Floydlickers are more entertaining that any of his fights have been or will ever be. Until that fateful KO of the fraud finally rears its ugly head.

If he beats the winner of Cotto/Pac and Mosley or Williams then he should be considered head and shoulders above the rest. Right now he is neck and neck with Pacquiao. I'll give the edge to Pac right now considering the amount of top names he's fought in the past 6 years
