You're a new guy here so I'll give you a pass for not knowing WTF you are talking about. I have always respected floyd as a fighter, I am one of his biggest defenders on this site and a big fan.

That being said, last night was lipstick on a pig. It was a mismatch, floyd did what he had to do but I am not going to chalk this up as some great win, end of story. My problem is not with Floyd himself. It's with his choice of opponent in this particular case.

yeah but the respect comes from the fact that this is the guy that most of us believe beat pac man (his name i demolish every time i spell it).. And so many of us are craving for floyd to fight pac..

Now since everyone says well look what pac did to the same two fighters that floyd beat..

People should now be saying look at what Floyd did to the fighter that beat pac, the fighter that pac doesn't want to fight a 3rd time, the fighter that prior too was "no tune up for Floyd".......

Yeah he did what a lot of us boxing fans expected but did you guys really expect it to be that kind of blowout against a fighter who people say is the most intelligent and technically skilled fighter next to Floyd?

O.K so because he was the bigger man and didnt respect the catch weight (which i can understand) he doesnt deserve the respect for the total outclassing of a boxing great like Marquez??

See this is where the hating has got so bad you cant see the wood for the trees!

It's like you dont see or appreciate the talent, maybe you guys see it in the gym everyday. MAybe you lot in the states are more fortunate, but suck it up because the europenas have already taken over the heavyweight division, you lot need to pay homag to the greats you have left.

Obviously, if your like mexican, this thread doesnt apply to you. As i'm sure once the dissapointment of your man losing has settled you too will respect the art. Only an exceptional talent would be able to beat a world class fighter like that - period.

yes and I'm not just saying that after the fight. If you read my prefight posts I predicted a complete shutout. I actually am surprised that Marquez was as competitive as he was. I expected a stoppage. There were very good betting odds on mayweather by decision not because people didn't think he would win but because he was expected to stop marquez.

    Good posting.

That question is all i want to know. The way some are talking Marquez is a bum, if i never knew any better i'd have thought, judging by the comments on these forums, that Marquez is some bum they called up at short notice. Naa, he didnt train for this fight of course not, he didnt bring the pride of Mexico with him into the ring...of course not...GTF out of here with that. Marquez is a great boxer, a warrior, he was that before the fight, now some of you guys want me to believe that he was shot?

Not shot just overmatched. "the pride of Mexico" What good does that do? Marquez is in there by himself not with a bunch of mexicans. He didn't have a single tangible advantage over Mayweather here.

    Punching power - Floyd
    Age - Floyd
    Handspeed - Floyd
    Chin - Floyd
Every single aspect of size(height, weight, reach etc) - Floyd
    Footspeed - Floyd

Not to mention that he had only 2 fights at 135 (2 weight classes lower than this fight) and the overwheming majority of his career at 126).

You don't have to be a bum to be completly overmatched 2 weight classes above the highest you've ever gone.

I hope you understand that most who hate on Floyd don't care who he fights they just want to see him lose. He could fight B.Hopkins and win and those who aren't true boxing fan will find a way to hate on him and not give him his just due.

Floyd has nothing to prove and he's coming back for a few more paydays. Shane doesn't deserve a shot. He couldn't even get by Cotto. Remember after 40 fights, if they don't understand his greatness then they choose to be blind. Who cares if he talks trash, how can you deny how great of a fighter he is. If you fools choose to be blind I'll gladly continue to take your money.

Then it has f all to do with you. I dont care how "seasoned" you are on the board. If you thoroughly read through my opening post in brackets i consistantly say this post isnt directed to ALL OF YOU, BUT A LOT. That was key there.

Also, if you thought it was a mismatch, fair enough. I didnt think Floyd would destroy Marquez like he did. But you have to respect Marquez as a fighter and if you do then you have to respect what you have seen Floyd do. Now granted there are a few fighters still that FLoyd has to test himself with, but baying of blood especially on the boards of state side sites are shocking.

Had Floyd lost this plce would have been in euphoria (maybe not you), Marquez would have been hailed as a mexican warrior that just had to much for Floyd, now he never stood a chance in the first place. Be real

Had floyd lost I would be joyfull. Not because I hate floyd but because I would have been happy for Marquez. It took a ton of balls to step up the way he did and it would have been awsome to see the gamble pay off. Plus I'm half mexican and I love upsets.

Punching power - debatable. Floyd did get caught a few times, Marquez got caught a hell of a lot of times and was still in front of floyd after 12 rounds. This obviously leads me onto
Chin - Marquez has a fantastic chin
Handspeed - Floyd, but then who didnt know that
    Footspeed - read above
Skill and boxing talent (you missed this one) - Floyd

The fact that you have brought up individual attributes shows that your reaching. When Floyd went up against DLH hoya was supposedly shot,

DLH has a great chin, has great punching power, has decent handpeed and knows his way around the ring, how in the hell wasnt Floyd shown up that night? I mea if we put the attributes at work, then surely as a bigger man DLH had the edge no?

What i'm getting at is Floyd's talent is underestimated on this forum (from what i've seen as i'm not on here often) ad if this is representation of the fans of boxing in the states, then Floyd may aswell retire becasue he aint gonna get the respect until he has a L on his record. IMO
