I've seen a lot of comparisons drawn between Carnera's boxing ability and Vitali Klitschko's. At times, the claim is made that Carnera was as good technically as "modern" superheavyweights, or better.

I challenge all and sundry to prove this claim with footage. Lots of Carnera's fights are up on Youtube, as are Klitschko's. Post the fights and point to specific examples (including the time) where Carnera displays better boxing ability.

Convince me. I'm very gullible--I promise.

I already attempted to do this in another thread.

I posted Klitschko Peter and then posted Sharkey Carnera II for comparison.

What the footage suggested was that Carnera employed verry similar tactics to Klitschko and might have been a little more versatile in some aspects.

What also came across was not the difference between Klitscko and Carnera but the difference between Sam Peter and Jack Sharkey. I submit that Carnera would have overcome the version of Sam Peter that Vitally fought verry convincingly and that that Vitally would have had a more competitive fight with the version of Jack Sharkey that Carnera beat than he did with Peter.

It might be worth saying something about Carnera's technical development.

Carnera found his own Manny Steward in Abe Attel who taught him to use his physical advantages to greater effect.

Just as there is a pre Steward Lewis and a post Steward Lewis so there is a pre and post Attel Carnera.

I'd compare Carnera to Wladimir and Willard to Vitali.

Comparing Vitali to Carnera either indicates severe brain damage or high provocation potential.

Since I'm well-known on these forums for my aggressive trolling and obvious mental disabilities, you may have a point there. :think

The size is comparable and that's were it ends, too............ Carnera was a typical "Baby Huey" as a boxer, while Vitali Klit is an ATG heavyweight fighter.................

Yes. I saw that thread...and I have seen Carnera fight. In a time machine, Primo Carnera vs Vitali Klitschko would be a very hard fight to predict accurately. If I had to bet, I would bet on Primo.

Janitor, would you be able to copy and paste your previous analysis, by any chance? I'm very interested to read it.
