You forgot to say "I did not expect Marquez to be still that small compared to Floyd after moving up 2 weight classes". Any welterweight would have defeated Marquez last night. Too much weight too soon for a 36 year old. Still mad respect for Juan Manuel Marquez, he's all heart.

Besides being shorter, and a lesser reach, they were near equal.

The Marquez resume is still vastly greater than Floyd's. Floyd proved his skills but he has not pushed the old school envelope like Marquez has but then Ellerbe says that he will soon do just that

He should be number one by right. With Pac number 2. But I hope they put him number 2 or 3. It might make him step his game up and ensure he fights Pac, Mosley etc

    That's the answer.

Floyd looked impressive, but the victory was not especially impressive--it was predictable.

My list would look real different than most and probably be criticize by some. But I am judging this by opponents, weight class, prime fighters, level of opposition and not by the most "popular" fighter getting defeated.

1.Hopkins- His last four performance were against Tarver, Wright, Calzaghe, and Kelly, His only lost was to Joe by a SD. Though almost all his opponents had to go up in weight. He defeated them, esp. Kelly who lost to him almost every round and receive a boxing lesson.

    2. Mosley-What can you say lost a close decision to Cotto, which some believe he won. Has fought 3 of the top 10 welterweights, defeating Margarito who was rated 1 by KO and before that Collazo. At 154 KO Mayorga and beat Vargas twice.

3.Mayweather-Has beaten all his opponents and his latest of Marquez shows why hes one of the best. The only reason I have him at number 3 even with his recent victory is because he needs to fight and defeat a top 5 welterweight to shut every critic up. His victories over Marquez, DLH, Hatton were all expected because of different reasons. Now is the time for him to be put in there, by facing any of the top 5 welterweights where he has campaign for the last few years.

4.Manny- Yes hes below Mayweather, his victories over DLH and Hatton has made him even more popular. With have to be realistic here. Mayweather did the same thing to both of them and Manny struggle with Marquez, which I would admit maybe the weight plays a big role of the different outcome. If Manny defeats Cotto, thats when he should be consider #1.
