Go and review the footage of this fight.

The only advantage Floyd utilized in size on the night was reach advantage. It wasn't that he out-banged Marquez. It wasn't that he roughed Marquez up and used his size to pressure Marquez.

Floyd out-boxed Marquez. He was sharper, more accurate, far better defensively and could control the pace of the fight at will.

Size difference is how Oscar managed to worry Floyd, by pressuring him the whole fight, keeping him moving backwards and throwing him against the ropes.

There was nothing Floyd did in there that was done by size advantage in my view. It was pure, accurate boxing

I think you are forgetting that JMM did not carry his power to that weight. His power punches were just like jabs to Floyd which I think really discouraged JMM from the get go.

He also mentioned this at the post fight interview with lampley. I mean the size difference was noticable even to a blind person but in Floyds defense, he is tremendously skilled, and when a small guy cant pressure you because of skill and size (Floyd was the stronger man out there by far), theres a problem

I think the fact that he missed his power punches is what discouraged him. Go back and find a clean shot that landed on Floyd through the whole fight.

The 12% landed statistic seemed about right to me.

Wrong, Floyd was able to control Marquez in large part due to his size and strength. He set the tone early with his power, and Marquez was afraid to open up the rest of the night. Floyd would have won at any weight, but this fight wasn't competitive because Floyd was so strong and hard hitting.

Punching power would matter if Marquez landed more than 50 shots in the entire fight, most of them glancing.

As for Floyd? Since when was he considered a power puncher at 147?

Floyd was not the go-forward fighter, he controlled Marquez through superior footwork and handspeed, not pressure and size.

    Jesus, so many rookies.

That's one.... Floyd being the bigger, heavier, stronger man will not be much affected by the punches coming from the smaller, lighter, weaker JMM.... Many will say that Floyd didn't really use the size advantage to full extent... offensively but defensively, it's a big help to Floyd...

It takes a lot for the smaller, lighter, older, slower, weaker, lesser skilled JMM to put a dent on Floyd...

Again - go find me a single shot that Marquez landed that could be considered clean and something more than a jab and I'll agree with you.

Can't tell me Marquez had no power when he didn't land a shot to test it.

It's like saying "Lacy has no power" because he couldn't land on Calzaghe.

Sigh - it's a big help to Floyd IF he gets hit. He didn't get hit clean, for the entire fight.

Check his face afterwards, guy looked cleaner than he did pre-fight.
