I would have loved him to participate in Prize Fighter. Unfortunately he got done over last night. Does his slide diminish Rogan's achievement

I wish he had faced Audley Harrison

If he retires now he will be - The first ever English Champ, British, Commonwealth & European Champ, and World title challenger.

The only mistake was the WBU belt which cost him his British belt

    Yeah hes finished
He didnt look like his hand was hurt he was throwing punches with reletive ease and although slightly behind he was bang in the fight so i was very supprised his corner pulled him out
The fact of the matter is Francesco Pianeta was there for the taking last night and an on form Skelton would has taken him out no problem. I cant believe the amount of people who rate Francesco Pianeta, hes poor, too upright and is easy to hit

Didn't watch the fight but its time for him to retire.

He can be very proud of his career considering his lateness in coming to the Pro boxing ranks....He can retire with his head held high :good

Ah well he must be done. Lost badly back to back to two people you'd expect him to handle not so long ago.

    Good luck to him anyway

Its on Friday week. As its less then 30 days he wouldnt be able to although if it was deemed an injury then he might be able to get away with it. If he does turn up then we'll know his hand wasnt that bad and he just didnt fancy the fight last night.
To be fair to him it was his trainer who pulled him out saying "you'll thank me for this one day im not going to let you look like an idiot" but Skelton didnt really seem like he was interested in going on anyway which, like i said was bizare because he was still bang in the fight and Pianetta's eye was marked badly

probably not so soon after a stoppage loss, even though his corner stopped it. Although i have'nt seen how it occoured so i'm not in the best position to judge

thought he might get jobbed on points, but surprised he retired. dont think you can take anything away from rogans win. if skelton is finished then i think it'll be the rogan fight that finished him, rather being on the slide before that.

Nah, he was obviously done in the Vidoz fight. Vidoz was there for the taking from the word go and Matt really struggled. However, that's not to take anything away from him, he's one of my favourites of the past few years. Ugly to watch and was never going to be a world beater but he made the very best of what he had. If only more domestic fighters would do the same.....

I think his hand did hurt, he said he wouldn't commit with full power.

However, his main problem was his fortunes were getting progressively worse in the fight. He started off quite promising initially but Pianeta came more and more into the fight and was really landing the hard, punishing blows, albeit with less regularity than you'd want from a European champ. But when he committed he tagged Skelton all too easily.

His cornerman actually said to Skelton 'I don't want to see you look a mug, I've got too much respect for you and you'll thank me for this later'

Skelton was hardly taking a pounding or anything like that, all the rounds were pretty competitive, however it was just evident Skelton had done his best work and got no reward and the tide was with Pianeta, and there was nothing Skelton could do about it. The hand injury just compounded things, and I think Skelton was given one more round to try to pull out a rabbit but it didn't happen.

As for his next move, depends what he wants. His world title dreams are gone if they weren't already long before this, and seemingly so are his European chances. So its either back to domestic level where he can still compete and pick up a few more cheques, or retire. I'd suggest at 40 odd and having done well out of the game for a late starter he'd be better off retiring.

I feel sick when watching guys like Huck, Skelton and that kid Mckintosh. I feel like noodle in boiling water, I call them non-domesticated fighters.
