Agreed DB, and it sure as hell messed up Billy Collins life in the process!

 

They should both be in the Hall Of Fame .

 

Resto is a scum bag and a liar. Anyone who has put on a pair of gloves for a living can tell when the stuffing has been pulled out of them.

Panama Lewis is even worse.

 

True Mendoza. Resto remembered that his seconds took the gloves away and 'did something to them', and as you said he would have known as soon as they laced them on (if not before) that they had been 'doctored'.

The fact that Collins Snr picked up so quickly on shaking hands with Resto after the fight is proof enough that the gloves were seriously and obviously altered!

 

yeah it bascially runined collins and turned him from a boxer with a great future to a person whose life was ruined beyoned belief....

an interesting point is....how come the ref did not notice anything?

 

Have wondered that myself - they took a big, and probably desperate gamble on that when they took the padding out.

Apparently, even though the bout was only a preliminary to Duran vs Davey Moore, there was a lot of money (most of it crooked I'm sure) riding on a Resto win.

Must have another look at the fight clip and see if it's ever obvious that the gloves have been hollowed.

 

and yeah the ref, during 10 rounds plus pre fight stuff....did not notice something you can see just looking at a picture???
