lets get one damn thing straight about floyd

So Floyd took an easy fight coming out of retirement. So what! He can do that. And I thought it was ridiculous at first to call Marquez a tune-up fight. In hindsight, that was no more than a tune-up fight. Floyd needs to start thinking legacy. That means fighting Mosley instead of Pacquiao, or hell, both. Fans of whoever Floyd doesn't fight before he's permanently retired will always say that he ducked that particular individual, whoever it may be. If he fights Pacquiao and not Mosley...he ducked Mosley. If he fights Mosley and not Pacquiao...he ducked Pacquiao. I believe his true legacy status depends on where he goes from here, but he can only fight so many guys. The few choices he has left for fights will need to be good ones.

 

I agree mostly, and I will add that side by side there was not a huge difference in their upper body.

People forget this fight was scheduled for July. The only thing you can fault PBF is for not fighting Mosley but other than that everyone else was not available (Pac, Cotto, Clottey, Williams, Margo, Hatton) for a fight in July.

It was not a bad fight for a 2 year lay off. DLH can fight Steve Forbes and struggle and thats cool. Cotto fought whoever the **** his name was this Spring. Pac can fight David Diaz and ignore the stronger 135 contenders and that is cool, but PBF fights a decent guy after 2 years and that isnt good enough. He put on a good performance and showed that his skills and speed are still there.

If he doesnt fight Cotto/Pac winner or Mosley next, then criticize him but dont get all on his ass for fighting JMM when no one else was around.

 

The fight was a good exhibition for Floyd to display his skills. But that's all it was. No one except Marquez fans ever thought the guy had a chance of defeating Mayweather. So as Mayweather was never under any threat I don't think he should get any more credit other than me saying he is extremely skillful and yes he showed that.

 

People are already starting on this Mosley is better than Pacquiao thing and that Pac wont be a hard fight for PBF. You already know they will say Pac was too small blah blah blah. If Pac is good enough to beat Cotto then he is not too small for Floyd to fight.

When Pac beats Hatton, DLH, JMM then its an amazing feat but when PBF beats them he was ducking other "better" guys. And when PBF inevitably schools Pac it will be more excuses and he was somehow the greater guy. They are already trying to discredit a PBF win over Pac before the fight has even happened and before Pac has even gotten past Cotto.

 

ok, jmm called out floyd. so as margarito and others. it was previously contracted at 144 and there jmm is hoping that it could have some effect on floyd. but a day before the weigh-in, contract has to be revised floyd knowing he cant attain the catch weight with money compensation for every lb above 144. jmm could have called off the fight but jmm has no better choice but to give in coz this will be his biggest purse and fight aside from jmm being a warrior.

so floyd didn't bother to sweat it out. at 144 floyd has all the advantages, size weight age, skills and speed. at 146 weight advantages grew even bigger.

floyd even refused to weigh-in on fight night coz he doesnt want people to know how much he outweighed jmm during the fight but their size disparity in the ring was pretty substantial and clear.

I give credit for his skills display after almost yr lay off and for a shut out win (in my view). But i give no credit to him for beating jmm.

 

What does De la Hoya have to do with anything?

 

I actually agree. It was actually a great business move, but he has to be expecting people, critics, fans to call him out on the move. But he's well within his rights as a proven fighter to take an easy fight coming back. But most would have rather saw a legit WW fight. But this was the smartest move for a Floyd mayweather.

I think there's a tad bit of legitimacy in fans' beef with Floyd not fighting bigger guys. Just a tad though. The guy is 5'8". I guess that's tall for a horse jockey. He's by no means a big welterweight. I think for Floyd, he's just damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

 

People are already taking shots at Pavlik aside from taking the Williams fight. People have taken additional shots at Pavlik simply by taking the Williams fight at all...especially when the welcome mat was layed out nicely for him to walk into the super six super-middleweight tournament.

 

Let me first make something clear..... I have never been a Floyd's fan but that's my personal choice.....it has nothing to do with his style it has to do with something else... However, unlike others, I do appreciate his talent and GREAT BOXING SKILLS. I would like to see him fighting only WW and then retire for good if he wants to. I would like to see him fighting Mosley and Williams.... yes, Williams... I do believe that Williams will take the fight if PBF ask him....

Now regarding the topic of this thread let me say that people shouldn't be blaiming on Floyd.... Money is a businessman and he likes money more than legacy.... he already stayed something like that before, so don't be surprised when he takes the so called easy fights vs LWW/LW.

Blame on the boxers from lower weight classes who call out Floyd.... You can also blame on their FANATICS (not fans) who cry ou loud after Floyd beats them.

Just after PBF anounced that he was going to fight JMM, other fans were saying that he was avoiding Pac..... and isn't Pac also a small guy compared to Floyd????..... so what's the point.... many of you don't want Floyd to take advantage of small guys, but at the same time some of the same people support the idea of their fav boxer, (in this case Pac) to challenge Floyd..... So the question is: What's gonna happend if Pac calls out Floyd and Floyd takes the fight and then beat him in a dominating fashion????? Are we going to hear the same story again..... people lamenting and crying out loud because Floyd fought a small guy???

 

Void wants to make big money by cheating. It's all about the money, not fighting, not at all. Void is void.
