HBO stepped up and made a nice offer to both Jones and Hopkins to get the fight done. I think Jones has looked good enough lately to make it a very marketable fight. A win for Jones certainly helps his tarnished legacy as Hopkins holds wins over both Tarver and Johnson. Your thoughts?

Meaningless fight which will be treated seriously by half the fans out there, a.k.a just your normal ppv event these days.

I dont know I think its got some intrigue to it. Two guys certainly past their primes but a fight against two HOF'ers, that can still fight a little.

Should have happened years ago, but I'm still intrigued to see how things pan out.

I'd like to see it, but i think Hopkins would win rather easily at this point. Shutting out Pavlik was way more impressive than shutting out Lacy.

I don't think the outcome has much meaning, either. They already fought in their primes (not peaks) and Jones won easily.

Well what makes it interesting is I see a clear win for Jones Jr and I think a lot of people are on both sides of the fence which makes it quite interesting. Hopkins hasnt had to deal with a quick boxer since Calzahage, and I think Jones will fight a fight at distance. Both these guys can chew up one dimensional full steam ahead fighters, but there is a little more in this fight.

Is this definately on LH? If so I'm really looking forward to it. Both are 10 years past prime and declined but both are maintaining some level of top5 type performance. Hopkins form book is way ahead of Jones BUT Jones may have the style to edge out an old Hopkins as guys have to force the pace to outbox Jones and Hopkins hasnt been doing that. Hopkins now has the chance to erase an L to give future greatness.

This is really like the Holmes-Foreman that should have happened in the 90s or a Moore-Charles 4 after Charles declined, fascinating

This thread is probably BS. Green is all agreed as far as I know.

That would probably be an easy stepping stone to take care of. If HBO wants the fight and the money is right, Green could appear on the undercard and get the winner. Or the fight could happen after the Green fight.

I agree there is some intrigue to it, if only because they're two massive names still and they have a bit of history. I'd definitely watch it.
As far as legacies and all that goes, it counts for virtually nothing...still worth a watch though.

Jones fights Green in December. Hopkins has a date open in late January or February for anybody who can get a deal done with him; plenty of time for Jones to get prepared.

Well if Jones win, I think it certainly says something about the two. It would prove that Jones always beats Hopkins no matter what point in time in their careers.
