Terrific left hook KO by Ezzard Charles

Charles always had a sweet left hook; dumped Lloyd Marshal with it to the body, sparked Bob Satterfield, dropped Walcott, ripped Lee Oma, etc. Had a tendency to throw it a little wide but here it looks perfect.

Not only did you just do a service to ezzard charles and his fans for this footage, but you also silenced the marciano critics which flood ESB like flies in egypt.

Now after watching this amazing video, no one can deny Marciano beat a very good version of ezzard charles. Those who think charles was washed up after losing to walcott in 51, need to re-watch this video.

Charles 1952-1954 was still a highly talented world class fighter



I can't wait for mendoza to come out and comment on this video. He usually claims charles is a "swarmer". I would love to hear him explain why charles footwork looks so fantastic and why he is sticking and moving boxing on his toes.

 

I never quite understood why you did not think he was top 5 ATG material. Watch his Kayo against Valentino for cris sake.

 

This video brought a huge smile to my face. This will shut up the critics for a good 2 months.

Yeah, this is probably the best I've seen of Charles post '51. Really masterful stuff.

 

I think SLAKKA is refering to this (fromm an article by Bill Hewitt) :

"Mitchum was also developing a colorful résumé away from the camera, especially as a formidable barroom brawler. In one of his most famous bouts, in 1951, he got into a scuffle with Bernie Reynolds, a heavyweight boxer. Mitchum sent Reynolds to the hospital, but endured subsequent criticism in the press for having kicked his opponent in the face. "It wasn't the Marquis of Queensberry rules," Mitchum later conceded. "I brushed my foot across his head to say, 'See, [expletive deleted], you see what I could do to you?' "
