Looks like Arum knows how much Mayweather/Marquez made and knows Mayweather isn't a terrible draw after all he said.

 

He says Pacman wants to fight one more time before the filipino elections (probably in april 2010). Logically, they won't have time to produce a mega fight like the ones Mayweather is used to (which take 5-7 months to negociate and promote).

Arum knew deep down inside that FMJ/JMM is not a terrible draw. He just didn't want to admit it. My take on this is that the negotiations for the Pac/FMJ fight will be hard. There'll be posturing and name calling from both sides, especially from Arum and FMJ. Negotiations will be off and on several times. At the end of the day, I think they'll come to terms. Too much money to be made for both sides.

 

I really hope this fight happens and the *******s will disappear floyd wins a clear ud over back its really hard to see pac beating floyd cause he won't ko fmj floyds no hatton or oscar that's for sure

 

I'm starting to notice how everyone's avatar that has floyd mayweather in it is him punching some slow guy who isn't as good as him. Maybe i'll make an avatar of of Roy Jones jr throwing a left hook at any one of his over matched victims.

A step in the right direction. Arum said before that the fight will never happen, now he's saying it will be tough to negotiate. All I needed to hear to realize that he wants to make the fight. He doesn't need to "protect" Pac from Mayweather. Protect him from what? The biggest payday possible? That's why fighters are protected in the first place, in the hopes they will someday make a huge payday before they are exposed or hurt. On a side note, Arum really threw Margarito under the bus there didn't he? Kinda strange considering he still promotes the guy as far as I know?

 

Can't believe that to be honest. Arum bashed on Mayweather big-time and claimed his style is far too boring for people to tune in and he really meant it. The only reason Arum is showing change in that link is because it was already rumored Pac would consider ditching Arum to make the Mayweather fight and Arum obviously doesn't want that and would rather keep it in the stable to keep things secure.

He, Roach and many others openly stated the Marquez fight/event will be a failure and there's no way in hell it would beat or come close to the UFC card claiming Mayweather needs a big name to help him sell and Marquez isn't a big name nor does he have a history of major PPV numbers in the past. They basically said if Mayweather thinks he can make good based on his name and only that then he's delusional and stupid because that would be an instant failure. Roach and many others agreed and it wasn't just trash talk, these guys were DEAD SERIOUS with their claims saying more people will tune in for a "real fight" in Pac/Cotto.

 

It's because Mayweather will out-price himself out of the fight.

 

If it's true that Mayweather/Marquez made $1.6 million or even $1 million there's no way in hell Pac and his team will allow Arum to ruin the possibility of making this happen. There will be FAR too much money and attention involved for them to turn this down and go with whatever Arum plans for.

Regarding Margarito, Arum continues to mention him and defend him as well. Even during Clottey/Cotto's press conference Cotto stood there and bashed the living hell out of Margarito only to see Arum answer back with praises and defend Margarito all the way in Cotto's face. Arum still has plans for Margarito and regularly mentions him.

 

Doubtful, it all comes to who's the biggest draw and the way to spot that is through their PPV numbers. So far it looks like Mayweather made far more fighting DLH, Marquez and Hatton. The only one that's "nearly" close in sales is the Hatton fight.

Another good example is how much Pac did fighting an unknown in David Diaz on a poor undercard compared to how much Mayweather did fighting Baldomir on another poor undercard which was competing with a free SHOWTIME heavyweight card the same night involving Briggs, Lyakovich and Juan Diaz.

Pacquiao's fights with Morales were in the $300ks, Mayweather's fights with Judah and Gatti were there too.

Both guys will have demands which means BOTH will price themselves out if it doesn't happen. Don't only blame Mayweather when the other side has similar demands.

couple of friends went to the fight. wasn't even close to selling out. tons of empty seats. Don't believe the hype gentlemen.

Anything Pac would sell now that he's gotten exposure via ODLH.

 

Assuming Manny beats Cotto (which is no sure thing), my ideal scenario is...

Floyd-Mosley this Spring
Pac-JMM at 140 this Summer

Pac-Floyd next winter.
