Will Floyd Mayweather Jnr ever go toe-to-toe

Probably he would if he had to. Contrary to popular belief , Ray Leonard only went toe to toe when he had to. He was hard pressed in Duran I, and had to fight his way out of a hole in both Hearns fights. To Floyd's credit, he hasn't been pressed like that yet, of course he hasn't ever fought anyone on the level of a Duran or Hearns either.

lets just appreciate floyd for what he is, one of the greatest defensive fighters of all times.

i think that Sugar Ray Leonard is the best fighter every but think Mayweather would have beaten him.

 

He don't need to, If he sticks around too long he will defo exchange more when his reflexes slow down.
(But don't hold your breathe, Floyd strikes me as a fighter who know's his body he won't hang around long enough for that)

I was expecting for him to show signs of slowing down on Sat. He still looked sharp.

 

the only way i can see this happening would be if he fights pac or cotto, 2 guys who will force him to engage. he still won't really go toe to toe, though. if he didn't do it against marquez, he never will again. not that this is any surprise. it's just not his style anymore and he doesn't give a **** about the fans so why would he?

 

Why the **** should he if he doesnt have to I guess.

Money fights pretty competently in the pocket anyway.

The better question should be " Will Floyd Mayweather ever keep his promises and go toe to toe".

 

Mayweather is a used car sales man, he promises one thing to sell the fight and gives us a stinker.

 

Why should he you ask? Because he promises everytime he's going to make it a fight, KO his opponent..blah blah blah etc....

Why? Because he goes on National TV and starts balling, crying his poor little soul out to the world, asking WHY no one respects him. :yep

Because when he was at 130 and 135 he had no problems doing it, untill one day he fought a young, strong man named Jose Luis Castillo, he lost the fight, but HBO saved him. Since then, he never to any real chances, even when he grew and was a full fledged WW, he still fought cautious against a LW, even when he promised to KO.

 

If he was forced to, he`d trade in bursts but not for long spells because he thinks defence first & wouldnt leave himself at unecessary risk of getting KO`d. Thats why he is the best in the sport, his intelligence & defensive ability.

 

I don't think most of his critics really care whether he goes toe to toe. That's not his style, we all know that. Their main gripe is his fight selection. I think you'll see, if he does fight Mosley and Pac/Cotto and ends up winning clear UDs he'll get his respect from most, whether the fights were exciting or not.
