"James Kirkland was sentenced to 24 months. the court shaved off 6 months for time served and will receive 100 days off for good behavior under the federal guidelines. When he reaches the point when there are 6 months remaining of his sentence, Kirkland will go to a halfway house to train for his ring return."

He got 24 months, he'll probably serve 21 months, and he'll be in a halfway house in 15 months. So it looks like he'll probably fight again in 2011.

For his sake, I hope the time inside won't ruin him. I remember when Too Sharp Johnson went inside for beating his wife, he was never the same when he came back. Of course, he was older than Kirkland is now, and Chico Corrales came back fine after his short prison stay.

I wonder if he will be allowed to box and train while in prison.

Good news but he'll be rusty as hell when he gets out and will have to build himself back up all over again.
