Got a feeling Roach doesn't want the Mayweather fight

If Manny Pacquiao beats Miguel Cotto on November 14, the stage will be set for what may be the toughest fight negotiations in the current era of the sport. Both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao believe they deserve the much bigger piece of the money. Neither guy is willing to budge from their position and neither guy wants to do an 50-50 even split.
Roach says Mayweather needs to get off his high horse because Pacquiao doesn't need him. He predicts a very tough negotiations process.

“It’s what the world wants to see. But the thing is, can you get him sign the contract? I don’t know. It’s going to be difficult because he thinks he’s going to get all the money,” said Roach to Dennis Principe of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “If he thinks he’s going to get equal money with us, he’s crazy. He needs us, we don’t need him.”

Roach said the crowd for last weekend's fight in Las Vegas is a prime example of Mayweather's lack of drawing power. Pacquiao would bring in the entire crowd if the two of them fought.

“Let’s face it, the guy that puts asses on the seats is Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather doesn’t draw. Against Marquez the venue was 80% Mexican,” said Roach.

Roach does have a point but Arum and co. can't expect Floyd to settle for anything less than 40%. Why not up the stakes and do a winner takes all deal. I think it has to be 50-50.

But in the end I can't see this fight ever being made.

Marquez vs Pacquiao got 400,000 PPV buys in the states, and Marquez vs Mayweather got 1.6million. Maybe theres allot more mexicans around now???

I really do not think this fight will be made. Both groups will make it extremely hard for anything to ever happen and maybe better fights for both fighters will appear on the scene too.

Personally I want to see Mayweather fight some top welters like Cotto depending on his showing in the Pac fight, Marge or Williams. Mosley is the most likely fight.

Pac has a few good options too even back at lightweight and maybe Guzman or Marquez again.

Roach doesnt have a point at all. Mayweather has more options than Manny and he has a better PPV record.

Roach clearly doesn't fancy the fight.

So Mayweather has a strong argument too for the money divide. Can not see it happening.

No he does have a point, put yourselves in Roach's shoes or Pac's or even Arum's. Pac's being doing the business for all the time that Floyd's been away and now all of a sudden just because he's back with a performance over someone that he had a 20 pound weight advantage they should bow to his demands. Bull****.

You ask a 100 people and I will bet that more than half would buy a ticket to a Pac fight than a Floyd fight. I agree that Floyd deserve's more than his lions share but if he and Ellerbe and Haymon think they can go in and ask for 70-30 etc they're ****ing delusional.

do you see any quotes from Mayweathers team saying they want 70-30?? Or even quotes from them saying they wouldn't take 50-50???

I only see quotes from Arum and Roach saying Pacquiao has to get the lions share. which is why i think pacquiao's team don't want the fight.

give it a few weeks after the Cotto fight and Roach will be saying "the fight needs to be at 140lbs"

Sadly, I think the potential PBF-Pacman match-up might be this generation's greatest fight not to happen. People are squabbling already and they aren't even in negotiations yet. The forecasted PPV numbers seem to corroborate PBF's stance on him being the 'cashcow' as well which could make negotiations (if they happened) even tougher. Sure, Pacquaio can fill an arena out but the money is in the PPV's so Roach's arguement is flawed. Pacquiao has to get past Cotto first anyway:deal.

Are you naive enough to think that Mayweather would not want these kind of deals Rob? Do you really think that at the negotiation table, should it ever get that far, that Floyd and his mob will settle for anything other than a deal in their favour? C'mon.

All I'm saying is that Floyd can't swan in and demand this and that when his only fight in almost two years has been against a man who has had two fights at lightweight, spent the rest of his career fighting below that and then all of a sudden jumps up to 146lbs. That fight on Sat night was a joke.

As much as I want Cotto to win I can't see it happening. Besides if Pac does a job on him - beating one of today's best welterweights - it further increases his hand at the negotiation table. Pac doing a job on Cotto as oppose to that con fight on Sat night - no comparison.

Does Pacquaio need further bargaining power? IMO, that would make the fight even more of a fantasy. He's been acting a tit in negotiations of late and, if he beats Cotto, I can imagine even more outrageous demands. What they should do is a 40-40 split with an extra 20% to the winner; of course the egos would never let it happen, but it is the best solution, IMO. If Cotto won the fight then at least negotiations would be a piece of ****.

I also agree that Pacman-Cotto is a very interesting fight and I don't understand why it's getting hate off of the general (other than the general is full of twats).

If Cotto wins then the Floyd v Pac fight is down the toilet.

I always wanted to see Cotto v Floyd at the Garden - a nice dream.

Exactly my point. The only way they agree terms is if Pacquiao gets a reality check, IMO- if he wins then I don't see PBF-Pac happening due to them both acting like tits over fees already and Pac's ego inflating even more.

As I say, lets see what happens against Cotto first, though.
