i remember reading somehwere that John Ruiz was stepping aside to allow Haye to fight Valuev....whats the motivation behind this is he hoping he beats him and gets a fight with Haye, would he rather fight Haye?
Well he has tried twice to beat Valuev and has failed so perhaps he fancies his chances with Haye should he get passed Valeuv of course. Haye would batter Ruiz in my opinion.
I think it's step-aside and a guaranteed shot, yeah. So we'll definitely be getting either Haye-Ruiz or Valuev-Ruiz III next. Like I say, Haye winning will be a lot better for the division. For one thing it won't inflict Valuev-Ruiz III on us all.
I've deliberately never watched Ruiz fight. I mean I love boxing but not that much. Is he really as bad as people say? Oh I forgot, I do watch the Tua fight on occasion though.
Ok now, I can't stand Ruiz at all, and Haye-Valuev will be far more interesting as a fight, and also better for boxing. BUT to be very honest Ruiz deserves a title-shot more than Haye does. That's just how it is. I mean he had two very close fights with Valuev in Germany and imo should have got the nod in at least one of them. Yes I know, these fights were boring as hell, but still.. He had two wins and another close one with Chagaev in between. What has Haye done at HW?
Yeah, he's every bit as bad as people say, perhaps worse. At the world class level, his mediocre boxing ability isn't enough to compete, so he holds excessively in most fights - many blatantly so - and thanks to his connections to powerful promoters, gets a free pass. Other times, when hit with body shots, he overacts to get low blow calls. He's done this in at least three fights. Ruiz's rise in the rankings - and continued presence - is exhibit A of corruption in the sport, a fighter rising to levels he could never have attained on the basis of his limited abilities. It should offend any fan of the sport, any believer in fair play.
Ruiz cashes in a couple hundred thousand with the step aside, totally RISK FREE. And then he is guaranteed a shot at the winner of Valuev - Haye. Doesn't get much better for Mr. Ruiz. Ruiz will lose to Valuev but I think he has a decent chance against Haye because Haye hates people that run into him and hug and clinch. See the Fragomeni fight. Haye didn't look good for a couple of rounds, sometimes outright helpless and frustrated.
You must be joking. Or severely myoptic. Can anyone please explain to me how, in any way other than simple playground hatred of Haye for being a big mouth, anyone can think that in terms of the heavyweight division Valuev offers better excitement, financial possibilities, promotion and media attention than Haye? Because I sure as hell can't see it. Valuev seems a nice guy but he's a also a dull guy and a paper champion and needs to be out of the title picture. I repeat, Haye beating Valuev would be the best thing for the division. Haye vs either Klitschko is about a million times more interesting than Valuev or Ruiz doing so or, more likely, either being kept away by King from doing so. Trying to pass this off with nationalism is ridiculous. Young photogenic bigmouth with an exciting kill-or-be-killed style? Or big hairy lumbering behemoth with a jab-jab-jab? Because that's the guy you're backing if you don't want to back Haye in this fight.
Haye will bring excitement, but I'm still convinced he cannot take a heavyweight punch. People don't seem to realise that the Klitschko fights were almost un-winable and that Valuev poses a very big threat to Haye's future.
