Leonard doesnt hit like LaMotta and didnt get inside like him. I dont think it'd be the same at all. I'm certainly not like Rooster, I like Leonard but this is too much for him.

    I dont...thats why I said I side with Robinson.

But by all accounts several guys have pushed SRR close at welter...Gavilan being one of them and one of their fights is considered one that could have gone each way.

Do you think Leonard is inferior to Gavlian, if at all?

Leonard has the faster hands, the more textbooks skills and the amateur pedigree.
I dont think its as cut and dry as you think it is essex.

I'd have said Robinson on points myself, as much as I admire Leonard I just can't pick against Robinson at Welterweight.

No one has picked Leonard yet..and from memory I cant think of any Classic poster that will.

But most appreciate the capabilities of both fighters and most will acknowledge how competitive this fight will likely be.

& Leonard could be outboxed, as Hearns showed.

Greatest 147 match in history, i see SRR edging it by 1-3 points.

What I meant is, I expected most to say Robinson would win easily

People bringing up the Duran fight are misguided, Leonard definitely let Duran get into his head. In the rematch - fought on his own terms - Ray showed who was the man. Yeah, Hearns certainly outboxed Leonard for portions of their fight, but Ray pulled out the stoppage: he deserves massive credit for that. Who wouldn't Hearns outbox for sizeable durations at 147lbs anyway? I'd like to know.

Im not saying I dont appreciate Leonard's capabilities, Im not that biased fool Rooster (Im suprised hes not made an appearance yet). I just think Robinson is a class above at welterweight. Thats me.

I'd go for SRR on points but IMHO its dangerous in this situation to pick one fight out, ignoring the styles, mental aspects etc and just say "well if so-and-so beat him then....."

You could 'prove' that pretty much any fighter was doomed to lose using that method.
