Shogun vs Machida...Your final verdict ?

I think Shoguns ability makes his Karate look better. Rua is real good but not sure if he is that good.

 

Shogun's aggressive style will play right into Machida's sharp counterfighting style. Machida will pick him apart with sharp, powerful counters.

big shogun fan i really think he,s gona hand it to machida, i cant see him being ko,d either he has a solidchin and that has been tested i dont know why so many underrate him he was regarded as the best lhw in 2005 then injuries came and that messed him up so i reckon were gona see the best of shogun this time round at last anyway shogun to win by submission he has a great ground game and i think thats where it,ll all happen! Machida by stoppage. He is just too good for the majority in LHW division.

 

Shogun on pts & it aint gonna be no upset in my eyes.

Shogun Rua is the best LHWT in the world & the flavour of the month Machida is gonna find that out.

Ps. If Machida can beat Shogun, I`ll admit he`s as good as some here think he is because Shogun Rua looked to have his old smoothness back in his last fight - despite it being vs a past prime Chuck.

This is hard for me to predict, because I want Shogun to win.

So I take that into consideration and think that I am probably giving him a better chance than I should, but then I think that I might be doing the reverse out of trying too hard to be impartial.

If I had to bet on it I would take Machida if he was anything better than -200.


The whole fight comes down to a battle of space; if Shogun can close it down, he will win, he is the nastiest fighter when factoring clinch and top games combined; if Lyoto can keep distance he will win because he is a much cleaner and sharper striker.

 

Depends on how you define striking; if you take it to mean striking from a distance, like jabbing range, he is not that great. He is a bit wild and not that great defensively.

If you take striking as a whole however, he is pretty spectacular, once he is close enough to knee you, to start backing you up physically, he is one of the best around. Once he gets a clinch on you he is very likely the single best in the division.

 

Yeah, I was thinking what if he could get him in the clinch!!!
