On Cotto coming in over 145.

"I'm prepared for that possibility," Roach said about Cotto, the World Boxing Organization welterweight champion, going two pounds heavier than the required catch weight of 145 pounds when he fights Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 14.

"But that's no problem," Roach said. "I'm not worried."
"One or two pounds heavier, we are not worried. We have the best fighter here," he said.

He might have to eat his words... giving the opponent the benefit of the doubt before something has gone down might be a bad thing.

He didn't said anything bad. He's only saying that they're prepared for the possibilty that Cotto might do a Fraud Gayweather move. What's so bad about that?

The author of the article asks the same questions right below the quote from Freddie Roach. According the article there is no big penalty for not making 145 too.

Most likely Cotto will come in at 145....he is a man of his word, unlike
    Gayweather.
Roach is starting to sound like he knows his goose is cooked.

Thats what he gets for biting off more than he can chew....he will
see Manny on his ass a few times and finally bellly up in the 7th !!!

I think Cotto should make 145, but if he struggle's in any way just come in at 146-147, and pay the penalty. I dont understand Roach's comments, he tried to get Cotto all the way down to 142, now he dont care if he comes in at 147, strange. Should be a great fight, I actually cannot wait. Good luck to both fighters!

So they can't go over 147 by one or two pounds which is more riskier...

These catch weights are stupid. If Roach gives him his blessing to go over the weight why bother making a catch weight in the first place?

Or why did he say in another interveiw that he wouldnt allow Pac to fight if Cotto came in over 145, he when on to say that he isnt going to allow Cotto to use his weight as an advantage. My Question is what world is pac and roach living in?? When you move up in weight you fight bigger fighters you know that going in. Roach is full of ****, weight to them is important, or eles they wouldnt have fought so hard to get it at a catchweight to start with. If they wanted to level the playing field then he should be fighting Jr welters, but then again should he lose to a Jr welter he wouldnt have an excuse as to why he lost. Losing to Cotto they will simply say Cotto was too big.

Problem is Roach is already on record as saying that the weight is a big factor, and that it gives Cotto an edge.. Blind people ignore those comments and overplay comments like this one
