There were a lot of reports suggesting that Arreola was KOed HEAVILY by David Haye in sparring not too long ago. Now, I'm a Haye fan but I think, unfortunately, that HW is going to prove all wrong for him. That Arreola was apparently dispatched so convincingly bodes ill for his chances vs Vitali.
Sure and none of those guys had what I would call a rock-solid chin either, with the possible exception of Tyson, who it took a lot of rounds to get out of there. Pac's trips to the canvas against lesser comp came very early in his career, as did most of Oscar's. Most of the other guys had/have shaky chins of one degree or another, imo.
Going back way into last year - before all of the Haye - Klitschko stuff had started. Before Haye fought Barrett, in fact.
Also, in both of these cases - knockdowns as the result of body blows can't really be said to have anything to do with "chin" if we're defining chin as "punch resistance from the throat up". :good DLH was put down by one headshot, IIRC - round 6 vs. Quartey. And that was a perfect short hook that caught Oscar off-balance, and he clearly wasn't hurt by it. He and Pac overall can both be said to have paper maiche bodies but no less than sturdy to granite chins.
Even if it goes back, if he's been laid out cold in sparring, that's not a good sign. That's exactly the sort of thing that was happening to Fraudley before he got starched.
Vitali had a weakened knee..that same punch today would be sloughed off..same goes for Butler. Interesting article, though. Thanks.
Arreola isn't in the best of shape, which doesn't help matters anyway. His shaky whiskers are gonna be the key however. Can you say "KTFO????"
Jameel McCline had him shaky legged with a few left hooks on the inside too. Surprised you guys didn't mention that. VK is not usually one to get one punch KO's, but it looks like he trained to do some damage to Cris early. I wonder what Rico will do after this fight. :think
I'm waiting to hear from Rico on this! IMO, if Arreola gets laid out as I expect he will, he belongs in the top 5 china chins.
Yeah, I'm afraid so. Would be neat for him to have some success, but if a 70% of Vitali shows, I'd say Chris is toast.
We'll see about that. I'm pretty confident that Arreola is gonna hit the canvas, early and often.:hey
no problem. of course the knee played some role and so did a solid punch. but it wasnt like he had arreola out he hurt him but didnt knock him senseless or actually down. he took a knee when it was better than trying to be too brave.
He has gotten up to win every fight that he has been dropped in so honestly if Vitali Drops Arreola that is usally when Arreola wakes up and ends the fight. Arreola has not quit a fight in his life.......BTW
