Is Klitschko-Arreola happening 2years too early? - A superfight not properly built up

Haha, what a staredown this was, Cris felt the heat all right... just looking at the weigh-in and other videos, you gotta realize how cool and charismatic these guys are...

So I'm thinking... this fight is coming maybe 2 years too soon, with the proper build-up, this could've been the first HW superfight in years, because it has two very good, TV-ready characters, something the division is crying for.

Vitali was forced to take a lay-off when he could've ridden the waves of the Lewis fight to become the next international HW superstar... there's something about him unlike his little brother... he's like a cruel sadist monster dressed up in Hugo Boss, acting like a cool gentleman, but you can feel he's getting into the opponents head and intimidates them... he's stepping into their personal zone, putting his hands on their shoulder and things like that, to make them very uncomfortable... it's like "WTF is he doing, oh ****, is he going to attack me right here?:yikes". And the staredown... he's cool, dangerous and extremely attractive at the same time to the crowd, whether it's in the US, Germany or anywhere else.

Cristobal is very different. Down to earth, honest and very funny with that almost caricaturisticly freakish head stepping out of a cartoon, and somehow we forgive him for his shape because he's a f*cking big hearted Mexican-American warrior who delivers with a knockout punch and makes HW fights exciting once more. I like him very much, he's one of the coolest dudes out there in boxing. He also has a lot of skills he's not getting credited for.

Why is this fight happening too soon? This should've had a much bigger build-up. With Vitali out of the ring for years, he should've fought at least once in the LA, maybe having 1 or 2 double-headers with Arreola, who himself should've had 3-4 more fights on HBO. The fight might not live up to a big hype, but can u imagine how awesome a 24/7 show would've looked? Vitali is a great character just not well known for that side in the US, and Cris was TV-ready the moment they turned the cameras on.

There might be an upset on Saturday or more likely a one-sided beatdown by Vitali... but this fight deserved a much bigger build-up.

When will be the next time two great and real, not fake personalities will collide? This is what the HW division and boxing need, not gangsta wannabes and hysterical spoiled childs like David Haye.

Much more hyped up than before the uber-hyped but fake, boring-from-the-moment-they-signed Floyd-JMM circus show... or Wlad-Haye.

That's good. I can't get hyped up for this one at all, but good you are. Hope it delivers the kind of fight you wish for.

It has the potential of a great fight, but chances are good it's going to be one-sided. But the fact that it has 2 great, non-fake personalities to get the average (non-boxing) viewers attention AND 50-times more potential to be a great fight than Floyd-JMM (one-sided, boring on paper, one-sided, boring it turned out to be), or 10 times more than Haye-Wlad (over in 2 rounds), means this fight deserved much more hype than others... I clearly could see Vitali and Arreola both being much bigger in the US a few fights from now... but chances are good the loser will have a hard time reaching those heights... that's why I'm saying it's coming too early.

It may be a little dangerous for him to fight on at 40. He could be asking to be knocked out!

It's only too early if Arreola cared about winning.

Same here, I don't think Vitali will fight on for another 2 years, even if he stays injury free. His boxing style isn't the problem - I just don't think he can motivate himself enough if there are no real challenges coming up. Well, maybe if Lennox decides to come back ;)

    intense stare down btw

He came back after 4 years and multiple career-threatening injuries, I think that tells something about his motivation. And you know, with Don King undermining the WBA throne (Valuev getting the interim belt, Chagaev not being credited as the rightful holder of the title in the Wlad fight), the 4th belt is still out there to grab.

Vitali loves boxing. He loves the limelight. But most of all, he loves punishing people for a living, and Lord he missed that cruelty in those years he was out. Vitali is a Basterd.

He came back after 4 years, yes, and I do not doubt that Vitali loves to fight, but do not forget that he already could have come back in 2006 if he wanted to - he was healthy then. He had other plans for his life after retiring for the first time, a political career back home in Ukraine, he tried to become the mayor of Kiev twice but failed badly, I guess that also played a role as to why he chose to come back. Going to the gym, going through training camps at 40 is tough, but so is Vitali, I'll give him that. We'll see.
