Arreola should have been handled differently. He should have fought a couple of top-10 guys before they sent him in to face a stone-cold killer like Klitschko the Older. The step up in comp is too big, and that is going to be the root cause of his loss tomorrow. Unfortunately, a lot of people get their heads messed up after fighting Klitschko. Chris may be the next Sam Peter.

Exactly. Unfortunately he will not get a payday like this again because he will have been exposed and possibly mentally ruined by the beating he is going to take. They should have had a couple more fights with top 15, top 10 guys before putting him in against Big klit. They are basically cashing him out while the getting is good. Short term profit versus long term career.

the guy is the # 1 contender....it makes no sense and would be unprecidented to say "no thanks, i am not ready to fight the champ because i need another 18 months and 3 fights against top 15 guys.....even though im the #1 ranked contender, i could lose and in turn lose my shot at the title"
here are some top 15 ranked guys from the WBC, a joke....

    #2 Ray Austin!
    # 3 Oleg Mascaev ( are you kidding me)
    # 4 Manuel Quezada (who the F is that and who did he beat to get ranked 4??)

    #8 davarryl williamson......(oh my)
    # 14 derrick rossy ---------- SIGH
    #15 evander holyfield....

throw in JC Gomez, sam peter, (who vitali has beaten)
Oliander Solis (who has 14 fights, how many more fights does he need to be worthy?)
Kvvin Johnson and Povetkin are the only ones that even have a remote chance...and of course the WBC doesnt even rank Eddie Chambers in the top 15

so point being, even if you say Arreola isnt ready...what guy below him is? no one......Vitali has to fight someone....its slim pickens the last 10 years, this is the best there is and its sad

When you think about it Arreola has been moved similar to how Gerry Cooney was moved along. We all know what happened when Cooney fought Holmes. I expect the same to happen tomorrow night. Arreola is simply not ready to face a fighter the caliber of Vitali Klitschko.

True enough, but it will be bad for Arreola's career to get ****ed up like VK will do to him due to his inexperience. Arreola should fight what is left of Sam Peter, Johnson, etc. first. He needs the ring time against better comp - nobody serious about boxing would say that he wouldn't benefit from that.

Yeah, VK has the killer instinct. Tyson did at one time, but lost it.

A man doesn't have to be black and act like a thug to be a killer. Those are two very different things. I knew some guys in the Corps that were true cold-blooded killers in combat, but were rather shy & polite in the world. The "stone cold killer" comes from having the mentality that you will **** up whoever stands before you, not from being mouthy and crude.

Vitali is really looking like one. I like him a lot, he's smart, he's socially committed - a nice guy, but when it comes to boxing, he's looking like Ivan Drago or a KGB killer in a movie. And he's a hell of a fighter. Look at his career. Kickboxing world champion, one of the best boxers today - it's a shame that he only had one big fight which he lost due to a massive cut. Without all of those injuries and in a different time he would've been much more respected and his boxing career would contain much bigger wins against better opposition. Vitali's life is dedicated to fighting whether it is in the ring or not.

I feel sorry for Arreola, because I think he's a honest guy with big balls. He is going to lose his 0 on Saturday.

basically i was saying, stone cold killers dont jab jab jab clutch clutch clutch. especially when they are 6 foot 7 and 250 pounds.... unlike the hurricane who came out and destroyed everyone in his path for his first 38 fights....yeah tyson was crude and became an ahole after he made a 100 million dollars....but people feared him ....you put too much stock in vitali by saying "beatings he will give arreola " " he will never be the same after this"
Vitali will win and it will most likely be a sloppy fight, and arreolawill be just fine afterwards and go eat a great buffet later that night

Much respect for Cris, the last time someone managed to finish the 10th vs. Vitali was 7 years ago. Arreola has a true Mexican heart, also some skills people fail to recognize, just the Klitschkos are sublime when it comes down using their height. Vitali was too good. I don't think it's the last title fight of Cris, but until then, we might only get match-ups not half as exciting and this was.

That's why I kept insisting that this fight deserved a MUCH bigger build-up, probably an LA double-header first and hell, a 24/7 could've been the most memorable ever, so this fight could've meant a lot more to the US, German, international public. These are great guys not some fake idiot cherry pickers.

One-sided yet exciting fight, good show for boxing, quality fan support and two great characters.

 True. But he looked very cool in the German RTL Television studio. Mike likes the Klitschkos it seems.
