Jones must first win bout in Australia

    By Dan Rafael
    ESPN.com

Sixteen years after they first met, Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins will finally fight again.

The light heavyweight stars signed an agreement Friday night to meet in a rematch sometime in the first quarter of 2010, according to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer and Square Ring CEO John Wirt.

The deal is contingent on Jones' first winning a planned Dec. 2 fight in Australia against Australian cruiserweight Danny Green.

Under the terms of the agreement, it is a 50-50 split of the revenue. However, if there is a knockout, the winner of the fight will get 60 percent and the loser 40 percent.

When Hopkins and Jones first met in 1993, Jones won a unanimous decision to claim a vacant middleweight title.

Why not I guess Hopkins has a score to settle. This fight might not be half bad.

I have so wanted this to happen.

Even with Hopkins on juice ... (do you think? IE Mosley to...)

Allot can happen but I hope this fight does happen.
    I love the 60/40 contention.

Good news. Kinda late, but still good news. If MMA fanatics can get hyped up over Couture-Noguiera... then the Hopkins-Jones rematch should be wonderful :)

I was really hoping Hopkins would fight Adamek, as I think that would be an enormously important historical victory for him, and if he lost... well, no real negative.

This is a no win for Hopkins, if he wins people will just say Jones was washed up, if Jones wins they'll say he was truly the better fighter and always had a style advantage.

Strange how it works, but I think Hopkins against Jones is the least important fight in tems of their relative historical places.

However, and all that being said, I'll be watching, and War X!

yeah hopkins cannot be all conservative and counter punching if he plans on winning. he will have to push the action a bit.
