So is every other fighter on the show, the difference is they have skill. Nobody blames him for trying to get money, who the **** cares? There are plenty of other fighters out there trying to do the same thing? What makes him some special case other than being ****? Of course the other guys are annoyed with him, he is taking the place of a fighter with just as much heart and every other thing, and that fighter has skill.
BECAUSE HE PUTS BUMS ON SEATS. You think its by acccident this TUF was a roaring success? You think it was by accident Dana introduced Kimbo last? Remember Dana calling Kimbo a circus act? Well guess what that circus act just resurrected a show that was getting ready to roll into its casket.
I agree, it's a good move by Dana again. Of course I'm sure you'll spin that into him being satan, but it just shows that he runs a business well whereas others run them poorly. What I'm saying is as a fighter he is ****, and the other fighters resent that because he is **** and taking the spot of somebody who isn't ****. So I don't see the point of "cheering on" a **** fighter who is basically just a name. I don't dislike him or like him, he's just one more bad fighter that doesn't matter.
The UFC runs their business very well just like Vince McMahon runs his business well. They both have that freakshowesque aura about them. And I dont think its a secret both of them would probably kill someone to make an extra buck.
He also shares a lot with every other successful businessman Freak shows? Unlike all the other orgs, who have no freak show about them. Sapp, Zulu...**** it, I don't have time to type out all the freaks in other orgs. Great that you can magically jump from being a successful business man to murderer, just great logic.
Tell Dana White that. In a Utopian world Kimbo's application for TUF should have been denied. But for Dana to make money off a guy he labelled as a circus act is quite hypocritical.
I see what your saying, but to be fair the same could be said of some of the other fighters on the show. There are guys on there who have had no pro fights (I thought they changed the rules a while back saying you you need to have had at least a few pro fights?), at least Kimbo does. Not saying this makes him a betetr fighter then them. We all know Kimbo never got selected based on his skills, but the same could be said of a few of the NFL guys. They probably got the nod cause they were ex NFL. I don't think everyone (on the show) was upset to see Kimbo in the house, a few of the guys seem to be targeting him cause they think it will be a easy win. Exactly, its not the first time (being hypocritical) and certainly won't be the last!
I'll be honest, I'm watching TUF for Kimbo too. I like Roy Nelson as well, but I wanna see how far Kimbo can go.
Just found this article on the la times site while checking the Anderson vs Belfort story. :think http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2009/09/kimbo-slice-has-ufc-staying-power.html
Thanks LB, I'd read something similar elsewhere as well. Evans seems to do an ab-outface on his original Kimbo position. That should say something. Look at how relaxed Kimbo is during the boxing segments. Kimbo also seems to have an alright takedown defense. Kimbo still looks very tense and uncomfortable on the ground, but time on this show may improve that regardless of how his fight(s) fare. I still think the guy has enough heart and athletic ability to be a contender. If he sticks with the sport long enough we'll see. Kimbo did defeat Abbott, who has a win over former UFC fighter Cabbage Correira. Kimbo has an official win, though I thought it was a punch or so too soon, over mma veteran James Thompson. These wins may not be the highest of marks, but I can't see giving any higher regards to the former NFL guys.
Kimbo's big problem is that he's all muscles and he's not conditioned to go the full bore in every fight. He hasn't spent the last 10 years working as an athlete - he's been doing the Clint Eastwood routine. He's too stiff, so his ground work is always going to be spotty.
I haven't been watching TUF so much this year but I flipped it on and saw the 'fight' on the last episode. Jesus that was the worst thing I've ever seen. Both guys completely gassed, hands on their thighs and puffing in the second round. Hope the Kimbo fight is better! :good
