Heavyweight division must be in a bad way if heavyweight title fights continue to be left of the terrestrial tv coverage. It's annoying that a fight being billed as quite competitive between Klitschko and Arreola is being overlooked. Thoughts?
the state of heavyweight boxing will continue to cause debate and on the surface it would seem a shame the sports most prestigous divison isnt covered on tv however boxing is a sport and sport must be entertaining and the klitichos have extracted both excitment and entertainment from the divison. i have sat through so many of there borfests to consider the fact its not on telly to be a bonus as i always watch the fights due to my love of the game and im always left dissapointed
There is no such thing as a 'heavyweight championship fight' currently, just three competing versions of a 'world champion' Best two fighters in the division won't fight each. Neither of them will fight the guy who holds the other world championship varient or vice versa. Fat man with boobs is getting to fight one of the 'champions' in a fight that won't start until 4am. Why on earth would that be an attractive prospect for a tv company?
They get a lot of stick, they have a different style, but your guaranteed to see a KO, which at the end of the day is what we all like to see. And a fight like the one tonight, with 2 big punching heavies, you'd think there would be a bigger interest. It's a shame
theres no interst mate beacuse of the different style you rightly mention ,unfortantly the style is boring unimaginative and mundane but yes its effective and has been succesful in making them money and alienating anyone outside germany from watchin them hence why its not on telly
Heavyweight boxing is desperate for a new star. Think Haye could give us some excitement for a while but we need a new Tyson.
It's interesting to boxing fanatics. Not much interest at all to anyone else. That's not a market that justifies much expenditure, unfortunately.
Vitali is far from boring imo. He takes more risks than Wlad and always finishes fights. Its unfair blaming the klits for the sorry state of the division.
'The Nightmare' isn't known to casual British fans and it's probably quite and expensive fight so it probably doesn't make financial sense unfortunately.
