No one else has a chance, I agree. The last person who really challenged VK, or could, was Lewis. It's too bad they weren't the same age, but that's how it goes. Vitali is a lot better than you might think. It's a shame injuries took as much time from him as they did, and that the competition wasn't better, but, like I said above, that's how it goes.
Great fighters make good fighters look like drunken bums from local bar. It was hard to watch JMM look so limited against Mayweather when I was accustomed to seeing him ripping combos and destryoing his opponents. Haye thinks that just because he looks fast and strong against Barret he will look the same against Klitschko. I dont doubt that Haye would come out ferrocious and willing to trade leather but as soon as he gets cracked by the right hand he will become timid and keep eating punches without return fire until the ref waves it off.
And that's why the fight has to happen, at least with one of the Klits. It's weird because I'm not sure who I favor more for Haye... Wlad or Vitali? I think he can out-box Vitali but would have to knock out Wlad. That would not be an easy task. Tough one to call... I lean toward Vitali.
No, was referring to the "other" past HW fighters that I admire. Marciano would naturally be an underdog due to size. But he has the chin, and relentlessness to to bother Vitali. His chances with Wladimir stylistically are greater I think (Due to Wlad's weaker chin). Although Wlad is the better athlete/boxer.[/quote] marciano fought in a very weak era more weak then even todays.. tell how many prime greats he beat? Really name the others and there sizes they mostly will be giving up at least 40 lbs to them... pray tell which ones and there weights... also if you are stupid enough to say haye might have a chin you have never seen the mock fight.. so no dont watch it again because you have never seen it watch it for the first time and then go look at mock's record and average weight he didnt even have much pop at 160....
I'm a big Haye fan, but I couldn't disagree more. I think he'd be a massive underdog against either brother. Haye by his own admission is a bit chinny, and 2 or 3 rounds of jab, jab, thumping right and I can't see Haye being able to continue. Also, if I had to put him in with one brother it would be against Vlad because at least Vlad can be hurt and Haye would have a punchers chance. Hell, I wouldn't even advise him to get in the ring with Arreola who is an even tougher SOB than I realised before last night. Valuev is a tough but winnable fight if he boxes and moves (kinda can't see him doing that tho), Eddie Chambers would be a good match too.
The fighters were better skilled and better fighters during his era. They just wasn't unnecessarily big/fat. A 37 year old Jersey Joe is a better win than anything on Vitali's resume. I saw the "mock fight." Haye gets exhausted. Re-watch it. Unless you think it was honestly Foreman's chin that failed him against Ali or Jimmy Young. Again, I'm sure the name Jimmy Young doesn't even register in your boxing database. Frazier against Mathis Holy against Bowe/Foreman Dempsey against Williard So much for your size advantage meaning everything. Why don't you go read a book or something.
I think he will win if he boxes and moves, I just can't see him being that disciplined. I'm a fan of him because I think he has an exciting style and I like his cocky arrogance and he brings something new to rather dull division, that doesn't mean I think he will clean it up. Hell I was a big fan of Gatti and Hatton, that doesn't mean I thought they would beat Mayweather.
I just watched the Vitali-Arreola fight on youtube.com. I am highly impressed with Vitali. He won with complete ease. Although he seems somewhat slow of foot and hand, his mental reactions are incredibly fast, and he utilized his physical advantages to maintain complete control of the fight at every moment. Very, very impressive. PeterPrince: I'm sorry to sound disrespectful, but you are making a fool out of yourself in this thread. Vitali is much, much better than you realize.
If the Haye Vitali fight does come off then there is no doubt Vitali will be favourite regardless of how good Haye looks against Valuev.Hayes punching power and speed while not giving him the edge over Vitali will give him a good chance and that cannot be denied.
"""""""""""he(sanders) dropped him as well."""""""""""""' Don't know who told you that...but you did not see the fight. Vittili has never been off his feet in pro-Boxing. It is the art of hitting with out getting hit...to night we saw a master piece...* *Well that word don't now mean what it use to really mean. A master piece is the piece a jorneyman makes to test for master. Not what we now use it for, a supurb work by a master. Tonight we saw something new from Vittili, fast effecient foot work, great side stepping. Things informed good eyes here on the com have said for years he did not have. He had it but did not need it. Tonight he needed it, had it, and used it supurbly. He has ALL the basics. He adapts himself to any and all challangers, finding their weaknesses and having a skill to take advantage of it. Should Valuov win vs Haye's, we will see that Vittili can work inside too, when they fight. Double jab his way in, bang the body, and so on. Dam I sound like a nut hugger....I'm not...well not from my point of view. If and when he is beaten from some thing not an injury...props for the guy...don't mean I'll be saying My God He's Exposed. I was a fan of Patterson...I can take it.
Yes but by using your logic , a guy like Zab Judah would've been the ultimate goat...and yet , he lost against Baldomir , Tszyu , Spinks etc...Yet the guy is super fast & very athletic...he's usually faster than his opponents too. Or how about RJJ vs Tarver ?.... Athleticism alone can't save your ass if the gameplan is not up to the task or if you don't have the chin for it...or , if you have poor stamina...or no tenacity..endurance , will to win. ps: to further prove my point..just watch past prime Foreman...slow as a turtle...but endurant
Excellent comment. There are two types of speed. Mental and physical. Vitali is a smart fighter, observant, quick to think, and decisive in action. Manny Steward commented that Vitali can get away with his left being low because he seems to sense the right hand coming.
