.....said that despite winning the world title the most excited he felt was when he faced Jones at his peak.

He also said it gave him pride that he had the balls to go over to the US to challenge him when others ducked him....and beleived he gave him a good fight for 6 rounds...

Said Calzaghe wouldnt have gone 12 with Jones at the time.


Said he was going back to being a part time Plasterer!!!!!! despite making a good few bob!


Also said Jr Witter is a tosser.....but didnt expand on it.

I think Joe would have gone 12 with Jones but he would have got a severe beating...would have been good matchup for 3-4 rounds...with Jones really busting Joe up late on.

Isn't it funny how no one recalls Joe Calzaghe was in his late thirties when he won against Kessler, Hopkins and Jones Jr, with badly damaged hands that meant he couldn't throw like he used too?

Yet apparently he's been in his prime through all those fights. I hate history revisionism.

Calzaghe's prime was 1999-2004, he still had the handspeed, movement and stamina combined with punching power.

Past 2004? Injured his hands in almost every meaningful fight he had, meaning he was tentative to throw with the same power. Was also getting much older, his reactions were slower and he was an easier target than he used to be.

 

Clinton was a good guy, had more balls than Joe Calzaghe, Joe wouldnt have lasted five rounds with a prime Roy Jones in my opinion.
