Floyd Mayweather Jr. (compared to Mosley & Cotto) is the safest fight for Pacquiao...

If I had to invent a boxer to match off against a fighter like Floyd I would invent Pacquaio.

    This is like Whitaker/Taylor. :deal

getting KOed early although worse for the career isn't as bad physically, would you rather be KOed by Tyson or beat by him from his lesser punches for 12 rounds?
I disagree. I watched Marquez catch Pac and hurt him with a few combinations. I know Floyd does not throw a lot but to assume that it would not happen at all is dumb.

Im not saying Pac would be KOed but to say the ONLY way is dumb.

Pac would probably not be KOed like Hatton or Jones. More like a doctor stoppage or Erik Morales taking too much damage.

Thomas Hearns has such underrated skill compared to Duran. Duran is seen as the top 3 if not the best of fighters of all time.

Compare that to Hearns people underrate him.

Thomas perfected his skills so good that even Duran who was so great was KOed brutally.

I see where you are coming from.

It depends if you are making a distinction between the damage likely to be sustained, or at least the heat coming Pacquiao's way, or his actual chance of winning.

Because as for winning, he'd be better off facing Cotto or Mosley I've little doubt about that. Not that its an impossibility he could threaten Mayweather, but I'd give him a lower % chance.

floyd is definitely the safest in terms of pac not getting hurt. he would definitely beat pac, imo, but i don't think he would have as good a chance at hurting him or KOing him.

It's not a total out of the line opinion... IMO, among Floyd, Cotto and Mosley, Floyd is the safest fight for Pacquiao in terms of physical damage expected to receive... Members here voted Floyd as the 2nd safest... Not really that far off...;)

Mayweather in the sense that he would probably take the least amount of punishment (damage) but he has a better chance of beating cotto out of all 3 of them. I give him 0 chance what so ever at defeating Mosley or Mayweather. Mayweather would probably put on a performance similar to what he did to Marquez except not so embarrassing and possibly getting a late stoppage (although I would put my money on a unanimous decision). I would almost put my life on Mosley koing Pac, hes just too big and strong for him imo. If he can knock out iron chinned Margo he can most certainly get Pacman out of there (not saying that Margo and Pac are similar what so ever, I just feel Pac is hittable and if he gets hit my Sugar Shane he might not hold up for too long). I think Cotto is going to beat Pac also but I wont be suprised one bit if Pac beats Cotto.

I still say mayweather would still be the safest for the Pacman regardless of how Mayweather was able to pick JMM apart. Due to that fact that Cotto and Mosley are just two overdeveloped gorillas. They have a lot more punching power than mayweather could ever bring.

Cotto is without a doubt the safest fight.

Why? Cotto is the easiest to hit, because he is the slowest on his feet, and the slowest to counter. And with Manny Pac, you need to be able to counter to beat him, because he is so explosive and closes the gap so fast. Mosley is tougher, stronger, faster and has a better chin and better stamina then Cotto. Even if Cotto makes it thruogh the early rounds, and is even winning the early rounds, there is still a chance that Pac can get to him late when he tires out. Mosley doesn't tire out or slow down. He is smart enough to take breaks throughout the fight, when merited. Also, Mosley's handspeed and power would spell early doom for Pacman.

Floyd is just an absolute nightmare for Pac, he is the toughest possible fight for Pac out there. I'm not even close to kidding, I think PW would be a less dangerous fight for Pac at WW. He would still beat him I think, but not as easy as Floyd would.

A fight with Cotto is waaaay safer than a fight with Mayweather or the ultra dangerous Sugar Shane Mosley.

Shane is a very good fighter although I don't agree that he would do the same to Pac what he did to marga. Marga was slow as **** and since there was no bricks on both gloves, he wasn't able to do anything. Mosley looked great against a slow ass fighter with no power. Now with Pacquiao's foot and hand speed, it would be different. Mosley might try to bulldoze his way with Pac but he will just use his speed. Mosley is fast but not as fast as he was back in his early career. Pac will make him look like a fast Margarito.

PBF is probably the least likely to seriously hurt Pac, but he is also the hardest for Pac to beat out of the 3 because his defense is a league above the rest.
