    Vitali's current trainer.
I know he is quite a success with his fighters but i wonder how good he is really.
And how people on this board see him.

How does he compare to Steward, Roach etc.

He's a pretty good strategist and a good trainer (considered great in Germany). He basicly adjusts the former Soviet (Klitschkos, Boystov) and Eastern European (Michalczewski, Erdei, Balzsay) style to the more technical/textbook German style producing defensively sound, effective but rather boring fighters. I think the technique we saw from Vitali is coming from the Soviet school and martial arts days, the strategy and conditioning is coming from Sdunek. Personally I don't like the way Boystov is being developed, I don't see vast improvement, and I really didn't like the clueless look on Alexeev's face, when his style of fighting didn't work vs. Ramirez. Outside of their dimention, these fighters face major problems.

He's a good trainer, but I'm not in fond of the style he represents.

That's it. He might be a good conditioner, and he has a textbook style that Wlad used before Steward, almost all offense, with combinations, and for defense just jump back or use high guard. Alexeev did the same.

However, whenever this doesn't work, Sdunek NEVER adjusts his fighter to do something else. You never see him yelling at them like Wegener does, when they do bad, or getting them a different gameplan when plan A fails. He didn't help Wlad vs. Purrity when he was about to gas, and he didn't help him when Sanders was figuring him out, just to survive the first 4 rounds. That is a major weakness and flaw, for a trainer.

He's nothing like Loew, believe me. Sdunek trained about 10 world champions, inlc. possible HOFs like Michalczewski or the Klitschkos, also the superb CW Juan Carlos Gomez, he could teach Pavlik a lot, especially on the defensive and counter-punching side. He's still nowhere near the knowledge of the old school American trainers, but like I said, my main problem with Sdunek is making his talented fighters more boring than before, obviously making them technically more sound. So his fighters are all pretty good vs. different kinds of styles, but still with limitations (especially vs. great adaptors and movers). I wouldn't call any of them one-dimentional. Pavlik is a classic one-dimentional fighter with great physical gifts (quick jab, size, power, stamina) with a rather simple but very effective style - when he can force it on the opponent.

Sdunek is a decent trainer. His boxers punch very hard, have stiff jabs, good conditioning and decent defense. Sdunked helps to develop a fighter's power. He is one of the TOP 5 trainers in the world.

As for Vitali, I agree with you that he is an exception, different from the other fighters trained by Sdunek.. Vitali fights naturaly, Sdunek is there for the strategic and conditioning part.

How is he a good conditioner?

Wlad ran out of gas twice with him,Alekseev ran out of gas with him,Balzsay ran out of gas with him,and I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting a few.

That is true. But from what I've heard, Wlad is still using Sdunek conditioning plans and he doesn't gas. I was surprised with Alexeev and Balzsay running out of energy, but Michalczewski didn't and the Klitschko's are very well conditioned today, so it might be fighter related. But I did notice that Thunder my man!

I believe Wlad ditched Sdunek's conditioning program after Brewster I.

If by conditioning you mean "physique" then he's pretty good, if by conditioning you mean "lasting 12 rounds" I'd have to question you on that one.

I think Sdunek's success has come more from the naturally gifted/intelligent fighters that he's had the opportunity to work with.

Just a bump considering i started this thread at a ******ed hour and im still interested to hear more opinions on this trainer.

I am rather curious as well with some of the opinions here ... is Sdunek a bad conditioning coach or would it be more fighter related ?
Al his fighters do look the part i have to say ... but physique doesn't always equal stamina.

Also BigBone would you also consider Dariusz as boring ? .. i always thought he was quite exciting myself.

Also how does he rank/compare to some of the more established US trainers.
Like Steward, Roach, McGirt, Mayweather, Richardson, Loew etc (not saying these are on the same level but more wondering how Fritz ranks inbetween them)

Ahead of McGirt and Leow for sure, behind Roach and Mayweather for sure. Pretty similar to Steward actually. Good trainer if you fit into his regimen, but if the fighter isn't naturally someone who fits well with his style, then he's going to try to change the fighter rather than trying to build on what the fighter already has going for him.

Fritz gets the job done with his Terminator Model V, but didn't get the programming right with Model W. A consultant named Steward had to come in and fix the bugs.
