Not one of my favorite fighters but his defense is on another level. I cant deny him that.

I think Whitaker was faster and Lochie made it look a lot more efortless but Mayweather is just as elusive.

PBF has got some insane skills. IMO, you Americans won't appreciate him until he's long retired. Call him a 'cherry picker' in his 147 days if you wish but you can't deny that the bloke is immensely talented:good.

Whitaker was a defensive wizard, no doubt, but I think Floyd's defense is more diverse. He's got 40 different ways to evade punches and neutralize opponents. It's really something to see. If he threw 10-15 more punches per round, he'd be my favorite fighter to watch. It's just that at 140 and above, he's entirely too safety first.

Good video. I really liked the DLH fight, People made a bunch of excuses about that victory by calling DLH old and past it, but u can see his hand speed and power was still tip top against Mayweather. He threw some real fast, hard combos. DLH looked very strong for that fight he just happend to be in there with a defensive genius. It goes to show you how stupid people are when they say things like "Mayweather can't deal with combos". That just some garbage that some body put there and people started repeating even though there was no basis for it.

Mayweather's defense more diverse than Whitaker's? How so?

I think he means that mayweather used vitually everything. he uses his gloves to block and parry, he rolls punches, he ducks, slips, bobs, weaves, and leans back out of the way.

Exactly - Whitaker was the king of bobbing and weaving. Mayweather employs a more diverse skill set using the shoulder roll, blocking, catching, parrying, etc...

The runner only picks slower, older, vulnerable to left hooks, blow out fighters ( because he knows they will be slow ala Marquez), he looked good with all of them but Pacquiao is faster and he does not wait like Marquez, all those desperation moves he does will not work against the Pacman, speed will beat Mayrunner.

Whitaker did use all those techniques as well.He wasn't restricted just to bobbing and weaving. The angles he gave were just often a lot more unorthodox than Mayweather's.

Defensively i think Floyd is more like a less smooth\technically virtuosic, but more athletic Canto\Kalambay.

Whitaker could block, catch and parry better than Mayweather too.

About the only trick Mayweather has in his defensive book that Whitaker doesn't have is a shoulder roll.

Of course, Whitaker could also defend himself whilst throwing 80-100 punches per round. I'm yet to see Floyd do that. I.e. taking risk, leaving himself open and still not getting hit.

If Whitaker wanted to shell up as much as Mayweather does, I doubt any fighter would have so much as landed 100 punches on Whitaker in a fight for his whole career.
